Hi guys - I've tried asking the staff at PC World and Curry's but they all seem equally clueless, so i'll try here.

I'm wondering if it's somehow possible to have both a wireless headset and speakers connected at the same time to my PC so that when I want to use one or the other, I can simply flick a switch, or plug something in.

At the moment I have a normal wired set of headphones and some 2.1 speakers. If I want to switch to headset, I need to fumble around the back of my PC to unplug the green speaker jack and insert the headphone jack.

Is there a more sophisticated solution?

If needs be, I can buy new speakers, and as mentioned, I would like to buy a new wireless headset.

If you have a compliant amplifier it will switch the speakers off when you plug the headphone jack in.

Having an amp would improve the sound no end too :D

Something like this?

I just googled '3.5 stereo switch'. There's loads out there. That one is from electronicsusa.com (no-one would mind me saying that? It's not a competitor)

Guys correct me if i'm wrong but you're missing the point, and sorry to be rude, but you're proving to be as equally useless as the PC World people.

If you don't know much about the subject, please refrain from posting because what you say is misleading or irrelevant.

I am after WIRELESS headphones, and from what i've seen, they connect to the PC via USB, NOT jacks. So all your suggestions regarding jacks are irrelevant.

Set your wired speakers up at the back as normal. connect no other audio device. set as defualt. then plug in the wireless adapter at the front an then set this as default audio device. when set up like this the wireless headset will be the chosen device but when you unplug it it should revert to your speakers. make sure you have all you drivers installed.

Sorry derf, but your first post can easily be read both ways. From the way it is written I suppose we assumed you already had a wireless headset. Easy mistake, no harm ;)

I use a bluetooth headset, and i set up exactly as bigporl describes. Good luck ;)
