so you broke yours? does that mean they are bad? :P

I had some and I liked them, gave them away in the end due to lack of use, but when the GF moves in I'll probably get another set.

Mr Bios, thanks for that

I really do want the HD 595's but

a) too expensive for me
2) no mic (no i dont want a desktop mic i have my reasons ;))

Thanks for your replies all :)

I've now decided to get a decent pair of headphones without a microphone , if i was going to use the mic all the dam time, then i would have goto some sennheiser 161's @ £50

so i've decided to get some decent headphones instead but still use them for gameing more than anything!

but what are good headsents purley for gameing purposes? or will any decent set of normal stero headphones do?

My dad upgraded his sennheiser to i think the HD 595's and he sais he can actually hear a lot more than he used to on the old cheaper ones and hes practicaly deaf now, and he also says the quality of the actual sounds are far better

im inclined to get sennheisers HD's

These medusas and surround gaming cans are just for kiddies ;)

Get some real manly headphones, go for the Senn HD595s there 99 quid from Richer Sounds, or do what I did imported some Audio Technic A900s from Sigapore for £140, there similar to the HD595s but closed so dont leak noise, oh and more comfy ;)

I cant belive I wasted my life on poor quality headphones worth 50-70 quid, once u hear Sound from a quality headphone £100+ and u think erm wtf is that new sound in that song.... erm why can I hear the individual rain drops hitting the floor.... your speechless + they will last a good 5-10 years Senns/Audio techinics do replacements pads too.

End Sales pitch/

thanks for the advice

im thinking maybe Sennheiser HD 515's at the moment, i really cant spend too much, going to get a X-Fi sound card as well yet, and im waiting for a 22" Samsung 226 to be instock too! i cant afford all 3 :p

Oh sorry mate. I thought you went and bought the "specialist gaming" headphones. Honestly, I beg you, please do not make this same mistake a lot of gamers have done. Pop into any high street audio and visual store and buy a pair of Hi Fi Headphones. The Technics ones I have are sooo clear they're unbelievable. They're fantastic. And for £20 they're a steal. I'm pleading with you, PLEASE do not buy the rip off "specialist gaming" headphones. They may claim to be 5.1 etc etc. But when you've got chrystal clear noise reducing 2.0 surround Hi Fi Headphones you'll never regret it. Infact, i'll give you my PayPal account details* and if you're not satisfied, i'll buy the headphones of you for the price you bought them for.

*I may not reveal you my PayPal details. Subject to availability! :D

lol

i did that 2 years ago, and as i said, my meduas's are going in the bin soon sas they are replaced :D

Sennheiser HD 515's are in mind, just under £50

One other note, imho you want OPEN backed cans for use with a MIC, otherwise you muffle the sound of your own voice which makes it difficult to place how loud you are talking...

now thats interesting

Sennheiser 485's it is then! :D

I didn't get an answer in the Sound forums, so I'll ask here.
Anyone know of a good EXTERNAL soundcard at all?
The creative one on OcUK seems more like an headphone amp than a Soundcard.

Got myself a pair od Senheisser HD595's, but onboard doesnt do them justice

Does it have to be external ?

MY Sennheiser HD485's have arrived and they blow my Speedlink Meduas's away! , better sound quality from low, mid and high sounds, more comftable too

highly recomended

now is it possible to get a mic that clips onto the cable?
