** HEADS UP: NVIDIA GAME PROMOTION ENDS THIS WEEK!! **

I got the email with the code and went to the Geforce page - does it give you another code at the end of that process then?

The Witcher 3 just redeems straight away on GOG, so that one isn't an issue.

Yes it should, The witcher 3 is a GOG key and the Batman Arkham is a steam one, I already pre ordered them both so I just sold my codes on the bay, I don't know the exact final process but if I its like the ones in the past the code generate actual steam keys etc through the Nvidia page.

Well, the redemption mechanism which the free game was a reward for helping testing (supposedly) all works fine but where do I report that the GOG game manager/download app is a POS that doesn't seem to support resuming? I left it downloading for hours on a slow connection and got to about 15% when the next time I looked it was back to 0.
Rubbish. Not sure I'll like the game anyway so sod that

Just got the codes through, redeemed them both. Batman is appearing in my Steam library as greyed out so looks ready for release and have W3 downloading now! Fingers crossed. Just need to wait for the components i ordered and upgrade my system, now!

Although now I'm thinking I need a new SSD to cope with all these games :/

Probably a very stupid question. Can games purchased through GOG play through Steam? Just thinking of future DLC/WorkshopPatch downloads etc..

Talking about W3 really.

Only in the sense that you can add it to Steam as a non-Steam game.

Really don't get why people are so hooked on Steam. It is nasty DRM and Valve have the power to fk with the end user and get in the way of them and their games in anyway that it sees fit.

Honestly? Ease of use, for me.

Agree with you in some respects, have the same attitude towards the abomination that is iTunes. W3 is 9 downloads on GOG, I'd assume (?) it's 1 on Steam?

I was thinking more along the lines of how/if a patch downloaded through Steam would work with a game bought through GOG that isn't on or linked with Steam.

Thanks for letting me know I can add it though, will Google.

9 downloads is hardly a problem - the first download is the game installer that does everything for you, you just have to download all of parts in to one folder, run the installer and away you go.

Steam patches / DLC only work with steam games. With a gog game, any future content is downloaded from gog.

Hasn't happened in the last ten years, but I'll let you know if it does in the next ten.....

Quick question, I have just ordered a full system buy now pay 6 months, if this promotion ends today will I get the code as OCUK won't get the agreement back till tomorrow?

But that is where you are wrong my friend.

They are monkeying around with how their DRM operates all the time, especially so the Offline mode. It used to be that Offline Mode needed an online connection to work (yep, that's right). Then they had it so it would let the gamer log in a few times without a connection. Then they actualy had an Offline mode that seemed to do what it said on the tin. Now they have an offline mode that seems to last for perhaps 7-10 days, and then demands to phone home and locks the user out of their account until it does.

As someone who works away from home and a reliable internet connection for weeks at a time, Steam DRM is utterly intolerable.

Yep...I bought an Ipod in an emergency just recently (it was an Ipod or nothing).

I had no idea how nippy itunes and Apple products in general are.

Ok, so u got to use Itunes to get tunes on your IPod......ok.
Ah, but Itunes will totally butcher your music collection unless it was bought specifically from itunes....hrmmph.
If you want to transfer music from a device, you must sync your ipod to the device and for this, an online connection is required.....wTF?
When you do sync your ipod to a PC/laptop, the existing files on your Ipod will be wiped!!!!

I really cannot understand why Apple products have proven so ragingly popular. Sure, what you get is good quality gear, but if that gear comes bundles with routine anal probes from Apple, then, erm...no thanks.

Surely someone has released a decent mp3 player that provides both the option of utilising some media player to organise files and if the end user prefers, just simple drag n drop?

on the subject....I am now lumbered with an Ipod nano as my portable music. Due to being forced to use iTunes, I tend not to change the music on it very much (practically never). Does anyone know of a method of cutting iTunes out the equation?

Ah well.....

The ipod nano was replacing a cheap Phillips mp3 player because I forgot the charge lead for it, and yeah, it was drag n drop, which is exactly what I like....

.....but the sound quality of the Nano is leaps n bounds ahead of the Phillips. That cannot be disputed. I also like the way that I can have a 3 hour DJ mix on the ipod and jump around to certain sections of the file with the flick of a finger. Other non Apple mp3 players that I have seen, don't have that facility.
