Looking for a headset because fed up of wearing my in-ear things from my Nokia. I need a microphone attached for skype/vent.

So far I've seen the Steelseries 5Hv2 is really cheap on OCuK. Anything else out there under £50 worth considering?

I've had Speedlink Medusa 5.1's before and they were so uncomfortable and broke. Had Zalman 5.1 before that, terrible.

The 5Hv2 look so comfortable and CHEAP. Would prefer closed headphones but it doesn't matter as I won't disturb anyone. Will plug in to Audigy2ZS.

Will also add I have Logitech z680's for movies and music, just want kind of accurate sound positioning in games. Does 7.1 headset even help with positioning? I usually find stereo to be fine but sometimes I have a hard time judging what is infront and behind.

Sorry, I wasn't clear enough. I don't like clip on mic's think they are a pain if you have to move about. Also I got one recently and it didn't last long enough for me to really use it.

I want headphones that let me know where footsteps or gunshots are coming from in BF3, at the moment it's either left or right, not really 3D as such.

I need headphones for gaming use because BF3 is too loud with the z680s. I also don't want people to hear my conversations when I'm gaming. Also my in earphones are so uncomfortable and are just a temporary solution. I guess I will go with the 5Hv2's because I've read good things about them, comfort wise and direction wise.

Currently using PC in sitting room.

I use a PS3 bluetooth earpiece and a pair of desktop speakers for gaming.

Gaming headphones are all BS, I can hear just as well as any 300 dollar gaming setup with my 30 dollar setup.

If you must get headphones go for a simple stereo set like Goldring DR150 or similar.

Just getting some 5Hv2's now, I just want convenience lol. Thanks for the suggestion of the Goldrings, the build quality on them doesn't look lasting enough for £60 though. The Steelseries at £28 delivered isn't bad at all.

Ah right, yeah. I don't expect them to sound good at all, hopefully they don't sound too bad and last atleast a year though. The headphones on head-fi look absolutely amazing, but way out of my price range at the minute, lost my job. Wish me luck anyway, thanks.

If I had to buy a cheap headset then I'd probably get one of the Sennheiser offerings or with my love of Beyerdynamic stuff I might be tempted to try the MMX 2 headset which isn't toooo expensive.

For cheap decent headphones I see these recommended all the time - Panasonic RP-HTF600E-S

Don't know why people snub this headset. It's a good price here.

  • Very comfortable
  • Solid construction
  • Clear microphone
  • Sounds better than the Speedlink Medusa and other headsets I've tried.
  • Bundled extention cable is braided and everything appears to be gold plated.

I know it's not audiophile quality, but for £25 it's a bargain. Much, much worse headsets at this price range. It seems to retail for a lot more, saw it for £64.99 at the curry shop. Very pleased with this headset.

Might even use these instead of my Logitech Z-680 system for a while as I don't have much space.

This. Plus cheapo mic = Win.

this combo will better any headset out there.

Only headsets I would consider are the Senns PC350/360 but they are outside OPs budget.

Haha, those headphones look so sweet. XD I found clip on mic to be too fiddly, too many cables. I got the steelseries and posted back what I thought about it. The sound isn't perfect, but I feel it's what I was looking for in games. So so comfortable!
