Ok, basically I was looking at getting Goldring D100's for my PC, but that leaves me without a microphone. Any suggestions on good headphones that come with a mic and are robust? (i.e. won't break after 6 months).

Do a search for the Speed Link Elara clip-on mic, it's a fiver delivered, you can sit it on your monitor and it works exceptionally well.

And get the Goldrings.

No, don't go with the Fatal1ty rubbish!

I'd go with the majority on here, get the DR100's and the elara clip on mic, I've got the Goldrings, fantastic headphones for the price. Coupled with a seperate mic will beat a gaming headset ;)

Well you'll never know now. You'll get them and think they are great, but the reality is you could have got a much better pair of headphones.

You WILL kick yourself when you get a proper pair. In the mean time enjoy not knowing what you're missing out on.

gaming headsets are crap, but with the name fatil1il1ili1tytyy on it will make you play better :p

Cancel the order and get the dr100 and clip on mic.

ROFL.. yarp!

I know I know. I didn't ignore it.... I saw a deal and thought I'd better jump on it lol. opps!

In reality I wanted the goldrings but I've got to spend £1000ish on a new engine, turbo, gearbox, oil, filters etc this month for the 200sx. I am trying not to spend out too much because of this, and rather than fork out £35-£40 for headphones and a clip on mic, these "seemed" to do an alright job for just over fifteen quid delivered.

I still want the goldrings as mentioned, but also going to Pennsylvannia for Christmas to see the wifes family so that will also be expensive time, not to mention presents lol.

I just didn't realise they were about to get such a scathing on here compared to the general reviews. And yes, for me the fatal1ty brand adds no value.. it is JUST a brand, not quality components or anything.

I'll prob get the DR100's after Christmas...

I'm not worried as I only had a really cheap pair of ebay headphones before and they did ok. Not great but laste a few years. Now I'm getting on a bit, I'm getting a bit fussier, and a it dissappointed these are seen as cack. Oh well lol. I would have got an uber pair if I didn't have to fork out for the car lol. Damn big-ends.. who needs them anyway? lol. (I'll feel better having 280-300bhp when the new engine goes in anyway lol).

Well I still don't know whether or not these are 'ok' as the Royal Mail guy that rather than knocking, they were simply too big for the letterbox. Nice of him/her not to even bother knocking on the door as my wife was in.

Now have to pay (50p lol) for the pleasure of picking them up from the post office as I can't trust the guy to actually knock on the door *sigh*.

I have a pair of Sennheiser HD485, had them about 2 years and they are great, I use a Desk mic for gaming and its all good. Id always get a good set of proper headphones, not the crappy "gaming" headsets.
That said im now getting tinnitus (damn concerts) so am using speakers more and more so i dont damage my ears as much.

I mainly went for the 'gaming' type as they were cheap enough and came with a microphone, and my wife wanted that so she could use it whilst playing wow, and I fancied it for playing left for dead or similar (if Steam actually worked :().

The DR100's were double the price Plus getting a microphone, so that swung it for me unfortunately. I will still end up getting te DR100's eventually though.

Unlucky on the tinny on the ears fella, not good :( Take it easy on the volume :)

Wife just went through an epic picking these up from the post office, as they were listed for me an not for her (Even though she even had a council tax bill with my name on it as well as hers, after showing all her ID).

Will let you know how bad these sound tonight lol. (Bear in mind I haven't heard a 'good' set of headphones ever in my life)

Creative Fatal1ty Gaming headphones> Straight away with plugging them into my amp at home and listening to a CD, the headphones are very "boomey". Even adjusting the settings doesn't alter the effect much unfortunately. The bass for trying to encompass/envelop everything else in the song. The wierd thing is that I wouldn't put the bass down as "strong" just boomey, almost echoey and prolonged.

Will see if they get any better after a fair few hours use but I doubt it lol.

Luckily they are OK for gaming, as that was the primary purpose. Will need to try them out with CMSS (or whatever that creative 3D thing is called) when the sound card gets here.

They certainly are not as big as I expected easy, and I thought they were a little tight as well. Even my wife said they felt tight, so may need a bit of use or stretching.

Not disappointed as I needed a headset with mic and these did the job for a good price and should last better than some other sets, but I think it would have been better to spend double in terms of sound quality to get the goldrings. I will do a direct comparison after christmas I suspect :)
