I'm just trying to decide on what iPod Headunit combination to go for. I keep finding reviews with "it's really slow" and such forth comments.

I'd like a system that wasn't too slow and was useable, also where do you have to wire it up so that the iPod charges will playing? To the battery? Just to the headunit?

£150 or less :)

Cheers,

£150 or less, does this include everything, or do you already have a decent headunit? If so, what headunit do you have?

I like my Pioneer system, the CD-IB100 is a great peice of kit. Connects the ipod through the CD changer control and gives me full access to the ipod's functions. Charges the unit as it plays, and makes the ipod act as if it is docked to a PC.

Hi

I have this head unit.

http://www.pioneer.co.uk/uk/product_detail.jsp?product_id=9888&taxonomy_id=25-121

And the CD-IB100, i can only skip through tracks on the HU and have to disconnect it to change album. Is there a problem with it? it seems very limited in functions.

I've got the same but the Alpine version. Love it.

Wouldn't call it slow, just a bit fiddlely. Especially if your ipod's a mess (mine isn't thank god! :p)

Go into the likes of Halfords and they have them setup so you can plug your own ipod in and have a play.

There's plenty of leads you can buy/make which will allow you to play the ipod through the aux connection. These though don't interact with the HU and I'm not sure about charging...

Mine was £200 fitted when they first came out. I think theres a new generation of ipod thingys now but I've got now experience with them sorry.

Sounds like it, but I've only got experience with the Alpine unit. Sounds bloody daft if theres not something wrong with it!

Stupid question but, have you read the instructions properly? :p Mines a bit of a git to explain to my mates etc. :)

I have for the Ipod interface but i no longer have the HU manual. I thought it could be because the HU isnt fully supported or something.

According to car audio direct the CD-IB100 is compatable with all Pioneer HU's that start with a P - Like yours P7700MP. I'd find someone who uses it and get the to explain. Maybe ask on the www.caraudiodirect.co.uk forums.

Depends on the unit as to how it functions and what features it gives you, mine is through an Avic-X1R so its controlled totally differently to basic pioneer headunit, all i will say is i can flick between folders / albums / playlists and tracks easy enough :)

I've heard that the Pioneer and Alpine one's through buses are quite slow? I spotted an Alpine CDE-9850Ri for £154, is that any good?

No doubt about it, that would be quicker definately :) (That's a great price, where's that from?)

The problem I've found is, as I have a lot of music (most ipod owners do!) search through artists is very long winded as I have hundreds of artists. But that's easily fixed by making playlists :) So I suppose it is a bit "slow". Not the HU, just the navigation.

I've never used these new full speed ones before. Whats the difference? Hows the nav quicker? might go have a play of one on the weekend.

I'm not sure if there a competitor? They sell digital cameras so I presume they'll be a competitor. However I'm sure you'd find it with a bit of searching...

I could save myself £60 and go with the Pioneer 4800MP @ £99.99 @ CAD. It has a audio line at the back so basically would just have a male-to-male 3.5" lead into it and in theory that would play straight through?

Anyone own this headunit and can confirm this will work or anyone who knows of this setup can comment upon it?

Thanks in advance,
