I'm after a headunit, budget £200 MAX (would prefer to spend around £150).

I won't be running any amps or subs off of it, I'll probably update my speakers at some point though.

Some of the Pioneer units looks good, also there's a couple of JVC DVD ones for about £160 - what are these like? I like the idea of having 4gig of MP3's rather than 700meg.

I'm not overly fussed for fancy graphics and pretty colours, less is definately more.

Any recommendations fellas?

Does anybody know what this one is like?

Not seen that one before. I've just got hold of a Pioneer DEH-P55BT, and its THE BEST £200 i've ever spent, the bluetooth handsfree alone makes it worth it! Crystal clear sound, and currently controlling my IPOD too :)

How's the BT intergration then? I've used handsfree kits before and always found them quite clumsy?

For example, would it detect the phone as soon as you get in? And when you walk away form the car and get in again does it pick it back up?

Also, where did you pick it up for £200 from, I can only see it for about £250?

Once you have paired the phone with the headunit, yes it does automatically reconnect if you walk away and then come back. Its ease of use is fantastic, two buttons on the headunit, one "hang up" and one "answer". You can copy your entire phonebook via bluetooth to the headunit, and so when you get a call, it cuts the audio currently playing, then shows you who is calling :)

The sound quality is superb (both music and phone), and the headunit also has echo cancellation for the handsfree, so won't send audio its playing back down the mic!

As for where I got it, caraudiodirect :)

The only headunit you should ever consider!

The Pioneer DEH-P77MP, as you said, less is deffinatly more. The sound quality is incredible and there is no real need for dvd use for mp3's as 700mb if by far enough for any jouryney you go on, and, if worse comes to worse an Ipod adaptor / generic MP3 device adaptor will slove your issues.

They also seem to hold their value very well and will never look outdated, go for about £150 on the bay so a complete bargain!

I have one of them, its cheap and cheerful but does the job pretty well.

Sound quality is good and you get the usual control adjustments, the only thing I really don't like is the plastiky feel of some of the buttons and the old skool 8 way LCD display (i prefer dot matrix ones for cleaner looks)

but for the money its an excellent headunit and i have no regrets for buying it. a dvd full of music is excellent and the seek times between tracks is no more than a second.

Cheers guys, I think I'll give those JVC DVD ones a miss. I'll just get a couple of 80min CDRW's I think.

I had an old Sony CD-MP3 unit, and the problem I had with that is I ended up with loads of CD's full of MP3's and I never knew what was on them all :p

I like the idea of the BT ones, I didn't realise I could have one for under £200.

It's up for £196 @ Caraudiosecurity and I think I can have 10% off from there with work, I'll have to check.

Yes those will remove Ford headuntis. However, I just cut and bent up a wire coat hanger and used that.

Cheers, they're only about a quid anyway :)

Will I need any other adapters for a Ford, other than the fascia adapter?

You will probably need a wiring adaptor to convert the Ford plugs to a standard ISO connector.

What car is this going in?

Your link isn't working for me.

That's what I used on my Mondeo and I am fairly sure almost all Fords are the same.

I am currently selling my 6000RDS on ebay, they go for a suprising amount you may be pleased to hear.

I am expecting between £60 and £80 for mine.

If you wanna keep an eye on the auction then here (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=9726477311&rd=1&sspagename=STRK:MESE:IT&rd=1).

Cheers mate, I've thought about selling it but might want to stick it back in when I sell it, plus I'm not sure I've got the code for it either.

Thanks again :)

Yeah I know that, but I can't really sell it either without the code ;)

I may well have the code though, just haven't looked for it.
