I noticed on the way home from work earlier a stunning red Ferrari... an obese fat guy in a nice, but very large, suit then struggled to get out. This got me thinking

Would you trade your health for wealth? (maybe a poll of below would be good)

Rather have;

a. 500k salary but be in poor health, able to cope for yourself, but only just. Possible age of death ~60

b. 20k salary and be shredded with a six pack. Possible age of death ~85

Personally b. I value my health more than money

So given the choice of two above average wages one which would give me good health and one which would not then I would chose the one which gave me good health!

Now I guess the real question would be if you were on 3k and good health and 300k and poor because then you'd have to factor in whether longterm the 3k would give you poorer health which in all likelihood it would.

On your examples, I'd take healthy. If it was more extreme so at 20 having the option the lead a rock star lifestyle and die at 60 or working for 40 years on average wage then having a 20 year retirement, I'd go rock star.

As someone who is neither I'd definitely take Health over Wealth, being in constant pain really, really sucks. I had that when I trapped a nerve last year, the prescription painkillers barely touched the pain. Imagine feeling that all the time. I'd definitely become a heroin addict.

My gran used to say " If you have your health, you can work your wealth" which I think is generally speaking true.

Two heart attacks in and my own health has had a fair kicking and the impact on not being to earn like I did has had a huge impact. 15 years back I was happy with my lot, job I loved, good salary (not rich, but comfy) More recently I end up counting every penny.

Your choices are pretty narrow.

Once your health goes you don't realise what goes with it apart from income. Money is great and allows you to do things and have nice stuff. But I'll take good health any day of the week.

Wouldn't mind a touch on the lottery though.

Speaking as someone whose heart defect could see them die before 40 and currently have very little quality of life, I can safely say I would swap a £160m lotto jackpot for my health in a millisecond. No thought needed whatsoever.

Really depends on the trade off...

Make me Obese now for 100m?

Yeah, I'd take that, I'm young enough to do something about it at this point in time.

Guarantee I'll die at 40? No thanks, I can change jobs and earn more than 30k easily.

The best way to get others to agree with your opinion is to post choices which make offering the counter opinion absurb so well done, I guess.

(b) from the ridiculous choice offerings you've presented.
