Healthy Takeaway food

I cant possibly see what is unhealthy about a lamb shish and chicken shish combo with pitta bread and loads of salad.

As for others. My take:

Pizza - All unhealthy, but sticking to a veg one is best as the meats are incredibly fatty
Indian - Chicken Tikka ok. Anything masala bad
Chinese - Not sure how unhealthy this is. Down to the dish probably and there's too many to go through.
KFC - Your best bet is the new brazzer
McD's - The deli wraps are OK. McDonalds are not too bad now tbh
Subway - Might claim to be low in calories but use more salt than any other fast food outlet.

chinese your best bet is chicken satay on a skewer with rice (no sauce), incredibly dry but healthy.

all sauces from indian and chinese's are unhealthy (my family own's an indian restaurant and i have worked in several) so i know exactly what goes into them.

the tastier a meat is (on its own with zero additives, spices, etc) the unhealthier it is. meat which is bland is usually healthy. take bacon for example, tasty and very unhealthy compared with a boiled chicken breast, extremely bland but healthy.

nando's is the healthiest take away i can think of tbh and it's expensive, but you get what you pay for.

I love nando's but I have never classed it as take away.

Tell me. If I went in and got a nando's chicken, can it be reheated in the oven and still taste good?

What, boring and poorly chicken drenched in an uninspired sauce? And then you get charged a tenner for it? I wouldn't say you get what you pay for, I'd say you get horribly ripped off.

nando's does take away and its open til 10pm+ in most places. therefore its a take away and a restaurant, in fact ive ordered takeaway there on at least 2 occasions.

i even re heated their stuff the next day and it was fine.

lol, they cook the food right in front of you, it's all made on a open grill, not a deep fat fryer, a lot more time and effort goes into their food than KFC, therefore they charge more, you seriously don't have a clue judging by your posts, its fairly priced imo for what you get, plus you get free stuff with their loyalty cards, etc.

Wagamama does take out, some of their stuff is incredibly healthy.

been there once and they have basically made chinese food as healthy as it can be, but it is also expensive.

in fact any healthy takeaway will be expensive, like i say you get what you pay for.

the only cheap option is greggs

If you're having a takeaway, have something you enjoy. Just don't have them too often and cook at home where possible! It's fairly simple to make a healthy curry for example. The OP doesn't seem to refer to health, more allergies etc.

There's a greek takeaway near me that does awesome chicken shish kebabs. They must be quite healthy, in a pitta bread with salad and fresh chilli sauce.
ffs hungry now

I would have presumed you knew better than this

Pray tell, what is it about bacon that makes it unhealthy in your eyes.

In general, I wouldn't trust most takeaway food as I don't really know what's gone into it. Also most fast food relies on huge amounts of bad carbohydrates to bulk out your meal - a burger on it's own could be ok, but add loads of fries and you start to get problems.

The healthiest takeaway I've ever seen is this: http://www.missionburrito.co.uk/

Get a salad box with all the extras and you're good to go :)

The fat in the bacon is what gives it that flavor you love, and makes it fry up crispy. One bacon strip contains about 40 calories, 3.5g of fat, 1.7g of saturated fat, 7.5mg of cholesterol, 120mg of sodium, and 2.5g of protein. The meat is cured and smoked before you buy it.

Nutritionally speaking, it is high in sodium and has a moderate amount of saturated fat, but the thing you have to watch out for when it comes to bacon is the nitrates (also called nitrites like sodium nitrite). It's a preservative used in processed food to help maintain its color.

Nitrates can be found in bacon, hot dogs, sausages, and cold cuts. The reason they are so bad for us is that when we cook them at high temps, they form Nitrosamines, which are carcinogenic. In the news, nitrite-based preservatives were found to be linked to pancreatic cancer.

I generally go for burritos with no cheese - sometimes swapping out the rice for onions and peppers. London has plenty of great places to choose from.

Chicken kebab is probably the healthiest takeaway you can get. A proper chicken kebab though, not some cheap cut off a roll one.

This really.

Subways salt content is truly awful so not exactly "healthy". Most takeaways use MSG instead of salt for seasoning food (chinese takeaways especially) which also isn't very good for you.
