hi all

just recently upgraded which has ment my old pci creative card is useless, i had the audio front panel aswell which i used mainly for heaphones.

basically i just need somet to easily plug headphones into without unplugging the 5.1 speakers

i have the dell u2410 that has an audio output but not if i can get it going that way.

is it possible using the graphics card to get audio out while still using the sound card for main audio.

thanks

You'd need some kind of 5.1 splitter and you'd just turn off (or lower the volume on) the speakers when you want to use the headphones, and vice versa.

The Turtle Beach Z6A has this splitter but I've tried finding it on some retail websites and I've yet to find one.

If I find one I'll let you know.

Edit:

Unless you buy 1 one these "Belkin F8V234-WHT-APL Headphone Splitter" (on the Rainforest)... and put it into the Green audio output connector of your sound card. Put your headset into one of the splitters connections, and the Front (also Green) connection of your 5.1 surround system into the other one.

I'm not sure if this would affect the bass response though.

That is I'm guessing your Headset isn't USB, which would have made it much easier to fix :P.

Edit: And I'm also guessing your headphones are stereo, not 5.1.

hi

ive tried connecting my monitor to my graphics card via hdmi and using the dvi for the display and it shows theres audio there just not coming out of the headphone slot on the monitor.

now i remember why i kept my pci card with front panel so long

I don't fully understand.

You have your monitor connected to both the HDMI and DVI connections on your graphics card?

So your monitor has an audio out? If so, you'll have to select it for default audio playback when you want to use it.

If you mean that you can see the audio playing, perhaps you need to go to:
Start > Search for/Type in "Sound" > Click the Sound Icon > Set your Monitors audio output as Default.

You'll need to change it back to use your 5.1 again, though.

it ok i managed to get lucky and sort it, dunno if this will make sense but i duplicated the desktop through both connections, before if i chose HDMI all i was getting was my desktop wallpaper but the hdmi connection is giving me the audio, now ive duplicated the desktop so both connections show the desktop and now the audio comes out of the monitor, now all i have to do is change the default device.

i guess i dont need the dvi connection now
