Heart Rate Monitor

Depends how much you want to throw at it, but it's worth looking into optical armbands like the Scosche Rhythm+ or Mio link. Generally more accurate and doesn't involve faffing around with a chest band that needs just the right conditions to work and restricts your breathing anyway.

ooo I didn't know that, better than chest straps then ?

as I do a lot of fast walking now (phisio told me to do this) id like to get one for cycling, and walking , as I only have the garmin 800 with chest strap

They are not more accurate than chest straps. I don't know where PB got that info from but it is wrong.

The decent wrist options are regarded as *as* accurate as chest straps however.

I'm not sure I agree with that. There's plenty of articles where optical meters are put against chest straps but those are kind of useless without some kind of control measurement because you don't know which one of them is out.

Another vote for the Wahoo TICKR.

Had mine 2.5 years and still going strong, used it Bluetooth and ANT+ with: iPhone4 (BT Strava), Galaxy S5 (ANT Ipbike & Strava), Garmin 810 (ANT) and with Sunnto ANT+ USB stick with Zwift, TrainerRoad etc.
