hi,

bit of a scorcher today. the temp in the room with my 360 in is currently approx 26 degrees.

i have a tower fan which i usually place strategically so it'll blow over the person sitting at this pc, the person sitting at the 360 and the 360 itself. however, would it be better to blow over the 360's psu instead?

or do i not really need to worry about it at all? if the 360 or psu overheats i presume it'll just shut itself down before any harm is done?

someone here posted that it is meant to turn itself off yes.

I don't know about my 360, but I'm the appliance currently receiving extra fan treatment right now.

My room according to my digital thermo is at 32c and I've been playing on the 360 on and off all morning without any problems. It should shut off automatically though if its too hot.

thanks guys.

i've got it so the air blows over the psu at the moment and it does get a bit of air the other side of the console where the fans at the back draw the air in (the non HD side), so should be ok. unfortunately i can't really re-position the psu because of the cable length between the console and the psu.

^^^^^ exactly, playing a guy from arizona on TH:AW today and he said it had hit 34C in the shade. It aint gonna bork, people get mixed up because everyone yakks on about "omg xbox overheated!!" and such.

This refers to how poor manufacturing standards CAN lead to heat build-up on the cpu or gpu. This is heat in the region of 70C or more. I would hazard a geuss that a fully working 360 with no dust build up, would sit at a balmy 60C on the hottest of days.

(PS as a point of reference GPU's and CPU's rarely recieve permanent damage unless they go above 80-90C and failsafes kick in way before then, dont forget thats not even boiling water temp let alone HOT)

So why would you put a fan on the PSU and not aim it at the side of the console where the grills are?
if you fan the airholes you can actually screw the airflow of the console and overheat it / break the fans

as said before if the austrialians can handle it im sure the british summer wont kill them all

good point mate. hadn't thought of that.

Dont worry I tested mine by playing it in the oven. I set it to gas mark 4 and still I had no picture break up. I reckon in a fan assisted oven you could go even higher.

brilliant :D

No problems with heat on my 360, the fans at the back don't even spin up so that I can hear them :p Then again I have modified it :p

Congrats. Doesn't that look nice.

Well actually I cannot see it as it's in a cabnet under my TV, and even if I could see it I don't give a damn as it being cool & quite is far more important than what it looks like  (I use it to stream HD video and having it like this will prolong it's life as it's running far cooler than when the case is on)

And yes it has a Samsung drive in it ;)

I had my first lockup last night, although it was a very sticky evening. At the back of the 360 it was very hot :(

Anyway restarted after a rest and all seemed well.

I was playing the MOTO GP demo at the time.
