Heat Shield Removel

Allo,



Trying to remove the heatshield on my focus zetec 1.8. but it just wont come out easily!


I've undone the 4 bolts holding it on to the manifold (manifold heatshield btw) But it just seems near impossible to pull out. Anyone any tips without destroying it?

I've posted this on ffoc as well but it seems a bit quiet. Car as all jacked up atm as i'm putting my car back on.

its probably a bit stuck because it heats up and cools down so much. Could you warm it up a bit either by running the car or using a heat gun. Careful tho because it does get very hot!

Need to get to the 3 nuts holding the decat to the manifold so i can put my cat back on (MOT time next saturday )

Yeah, I was juggling with the heatshield nuts when I took them off (pretty hot) and the car was only running for about a minute!

had to undo the power steering pipe brackets which gave me about 1cm more room don't ya just love cars!

no right now i hate them (see my thread!!!) Tbh its got to be a heat issue that is causing your woes hasn't it.

Had to borrow some better tools as I kind of put too much pressure on, when trying to un-do the bolts!!!
