heat sink replacemetn problem

Just a bit of advice please.

I have a 775 motherboard here ( its a friends) but its an old one (agp and ddr 1)

any way to cut a long story short, if his pc is standing up it doesnet get past the spash screen, if I lie it down, it is fine.

my first thought was that the heatsink wasnt seeling correctly so i went and bought some arctic silver, but that hasnt helped, so i think we will need to replace the heat sink and fan.

not a problem, except the heatsink is the old style with the 4 U shaped clips that catch the bracket, rather than the new screw style clips.

does any body have any recomendations? I cant even see any on the OC website

I reckon I've got a freezer 7 pro spare, I'll take a look after work

am i being daft here.

do the coolers that arn't the screw style come with the brackets to fit onto the square fixing on the motherbaord and just arnt pictured with them, or is that style of motherbaord / cpu just too old to replace now

I dont know what they are called.
