Heat Sinks

thermalight is the best air solution about nowadays

just so long as you don't get a banana shaped one

Here another question the ThermalRight Ultra Extrme VS the Scythe Ninja-CU Full Copper CPU Cooler?

I've seen the Scythe Ninja CPU Cooler on a mates PC and running the intel quad core very cool at 3.5Ghz so with this new version I was wonder how this performs against the TRUE?

TRUE is meant to be the best :)

I personally found the following to cool within 2-3 degrees of one another:

Big Typhoon
Scythe Ninja (Revision B)
Thermalright SI-128 (possibly the quietest of the bunch)
Ultra 120 Extreme

Never used the Tuniq Tower but all reports suggest it's also a great cooler.

As a side note i've also used a Titan Amanda TEC - was very expensive and performed quite poorly TBH.

TRUE all depends on the Fan you have on it.. with a bog standard 1200 RMP joby its going to perform slightly better than a Tuniq, 2000RPM fan like a sharkoon silent eagle 2000 and you will see quite a large improvement in performance... stick a jet turbine to it and it is in a league of its own

I was thinking of buying a "Thermalright SI-128" but i dont know if it will fit on my motherboard or in my case without it hitting anything else.

Mobo - P35C-DS3R
Case - Thermaltake Soprano

Still in debate over this one and will have to see the reports from other to make a firm decision.

Just thinking out aloud but a Scythe Ninja-CU Full Copper CPU Cooler with a 120mm delta fan would be interesting :)

Would use a fan controller to reduce to an acceptable noice level but would push some serious airflow across the heatsink.

Case cooling can also make a difference to cpu cooling. But i would say that the finish of the base of the heat sink is more important. i just brought a tuniq cooler and after lapping it reduced the cpu temps by 20 degree over what it was doing before. Hence why people get so many contrasting results. My tuniq was probably just over 1mm out of being flat and only 25% of the base was actually in contact with the cpu. I doubt this is just a tuniq problem, and would suspect its the case with all coolers.

Got a couple of Scythe Ninja's- are these generally flat? The first one has a coin edge ledge feel to it, second is smoother.

At the moment the Tuniq tower is around £25, the Noctua NH12 is £30 and the TRUE (if we have to call it that) is around £45 with a decent fan.

Personally I found the Noctua to be a nice balance of performance for price. You get a couple of degrees cooler then the Tuniq and a couple more degrees if you put a better fan on it (like a yate loon).

If you want the absolute best though then the TRUE is the one to go for put you're paying for it.

you relise how loud the delta are? :)

if you are buying a delta from an e-tailor in the UK the only model that is sold will not run off a 3pin mobo connector or any fan controller i have found! unless you can find one that supports 28watts and 2amp draw.. you would need a rehostat (sp!)

you are best to go to the US site that stocks the whole range and buy one of the "slightly" less insance ones :) The delta I use are 10 watt 1amp which is well within what the 3pin headers on my board will support... still damm loud and push 150CFM @ max RMP
