oh I do like to be beside the seaside
I'm travelling from Chelmsford to Heathrow tomorrow, via Liverpool Street and Paddington.

Does anyone know if I can use the Heathrow Express from Paddington or can I only use the Heathrow Connect?

I tried ringing Heathrow Express, but they never answer the phone.

Only if you have paid extra for a ticket routed via Heathrow Express.

I'd advise you don't if you've not yet bought a ticket. Heathrow Express is a comedy ripoff - Heathrow Connect uses the same route and takes just 10 minutes longer. It is half the price.

Heathrow Connect still expensive compared to the tube, although it is a lot quicker. A day return on the Heathrow Connect more then a week on the tube.

I thought Connect could be used with a regular ticket, be it a pre-purchased hourney online or say an all ZOnes travelcard?

£32 return. It is crazy expensive, infact it is one of the worlds most expensive rail journeys by mile.

Connect is half the price.

However it works, is clean and always has seats (in First)
Every time I have to head over to LHR I taxi to paddington and then jump on the next express.. Its just so effortless.

It was the most expensive public transport period! It was more expensive per mile then Concorde!

West Ealing to Heathrow £7 one way (No discount for a return or none peak times). The tube £2.20 peak and £1.40 off peak with an Oyster Card.

If you use it from West Ealing into Paddington then normal Oyster Card rail fares apply, about £1.50. Which does make it fast and cheap but that Heathrow leg ungodly expensive.

Connect is almost as good, just every 30 min and taking 10 min longer.

Doesnt it also stop several more times?

Horses for courses, I like that I can turn up, there will invariably always be a train ready to go.. plonk myself in a nice quiet first cabin and relax knowing I'm 1 stop extra away from T5, with no dodgy music blaring or chavs!
