Heathrow T5 Business Lounges

I find most lounges at American airports are fairly terrible. I had the misfortune of trying to use to Delta lounge at JFK last year because the Virgin Atlantic lounge was closed for renovations. Never again.

Last year Delta had the old space lounge, it was crap, they now have 2 skyclubs, the big main one that does Nathans hot dogs, a new smallier one with a nice outside area and they open last week a Delta One lounge which only for DeltaOne or virgin upper flyers, it is meant to be great but I havent been yet, going to check it out on Monday.

Give cloudstrike issues with delta.. don’t leave things to the last minite.

I agree most longes are simply becoming less than stellar. Only thing is the seats are not normally butt-numbing metal.
Done trips to Pune many times - including via delhi. First class ans business class.
With business claas (ans this may sound like your being an pomp ass) but if there’s economy in the business class queue, polity ask the checkin staff can be pushes to the front. Afterall you are paying for it. Chances are you mau be pushed to rhe first class to checkin instead.

The other part on the business class is you are often boarded first, and supplies with drink etc - eapecially longer hail. If you’re first you’ll tend to be personally greeted at the plane.

@NickK Oh God, I don't think I could be pushy like that...maybe if I down a few of those Champagne glasses that someone above said ask for lol.

I guess @ShivP is in Mumbai by now? Ganesha Chatturti festival in August? It's one of the main festivals I want to see but August/September is monsoon season, add to that the extreme heat. October for me this year (Diwali & Dev Deepawali).

The best T5 lounge is the Virgin one in T3 no? Only joking, although I was a guest at a BA lounge before a short haul flight and thought it was embarrassingly bad in comparison.

I’m flying to the US next week on Virgin and looking forward to the lounge. Although the reality is I’ll probably just have a coffee pre flight and that’s it :p Rather than get a work car service at rush hour as well I’m going to get the tube. Means I miss out on the lovely private drop off they have which is a shame - it’s the best bit to make you feel like a rock star :p

Let’s hope my car service at the other end is an Escalade as it usual is! Totally over the top..

My favourite lounge at Heathrow is the Virgin arrivals lounge at T3. Being able to get off the plane and have breakfast, coffee and a much needed shower is a winner.

I'm slightly grumpy that the £5 drop off charge applies even to the Upper Class drop off at T3.

like others have said, some lounges are hit and miss in terms of quality.. but i find them useful especially for long haul flights.. where having a snack in a quiet area watching planes take off/land and being able to have a shower before hand.

I often don't bother with breakfast on the flight and go for one in the lounge

are you talking about the drive thru check in now having a £5 charge?

I remember i forgot to pay the charge one time and i got a letter saying they would charge me £14 because it was a new rule and a first time offence, but if i did it again, the charge would be a £100 fee

I wasn't in Mumbai on 26th unfortunately, went directly to Phuket. Spent 4 days in Mumbai on the way back, landed last night.
Got the old seat on the way out, and club suites yesterday. Must say, as everyone knows the club suite is vastly superior. However, the service I wasn't overly pleased by, and the food on the outward bound was noticeably better as well, I guess because LHR is the BA hub(?)

It has overall ruined economy class for me, but I am not in a position to travel business/club world every time I go somewhere, I am glad to have had the experience though!

Weather was actually very good to us, rained for about 2 hours over the days, and not overly hot at all. 30 degrees, and of course in Mumbai you are in an AC Uber everywhere, so rarely a problem. New coastal road has drastically improved traffic as well, we stayed in the St Regis and what used to be a 2 hour drive to get to Juhu is now only 45 mins. The infrastructure there is really pushing forward...

I'd also say USA lounges are poor. Virgin at Heathrow and KLM at Schipol stand out as good lounges.

Quickie for a few of you guys.

At check-in, did British Airways (or any airlines - IndiGo, Air India) ever ask you to show the debit/credit card you used to book your flight? I've had to replace my Visa card this week as it's getting worn down.

I have seen that in the terms of some airlines but never been asked for it

The Delta one lounge JFK is the best I have been to, better than emirates.

Just come back from LAX.. The new lounge not open yet but was mega impressed with the delta one check in. Just give lady passport / bag. In a mini lounge with drinks and snacks then through private security. Then a lift straight up to the lounge.

The lounge at LAX was above average so expcet the new one to be pretty damn good (opening in about a month)

Edit was flying virgin buisness so had access to the delta and one world lounge at lax.. the delta existing one was far superior so the new delta one have high hopes for
