Just wanting some advice, in own house for first winter and was wondering what times I should/you normally put you heating on for. I can have upto 3 different times/settings/programs. The house is fairly good heat loss way.

Any ideas/tips be good!!

I leave it on manual as I generally just put on a jumper if it gets a bit cool.

But I guess if you have to program it, first thing in the morning, afternoon at around the time you get home, and night beofre bed?

The times when you're there to enjoy the warmth would be a good start!

If you're cold when you wake up, set the heating to come on 20-30 mins before you usually get up, and go off an hour or two later (or half an hour before you leave for work or whatever). Then the same thing again for the evening; on just before you arrive back, off an hour or two later. If you find it's cold again later in the evening, have it come on again for a while.

Just have to judge it based on when you're in the house and when you feel cold. There's no specific times or anything that everyone can use.

I think in our home it comes on about 6:45 in the morning, with people getting out of bed at 7am, and goes off at 8. Comes back on around 4:30 and stays on for a few hours

can't believe you need to start a thread on this.

Well its just at the moment it gets cold in the night but not sure whens the best time to have it on vs heat lost, IE if i had it on from 11-1 would that keep the house good overnight or say 1-3 as thats the middle of the night!

I'd proberly go for 30minutes before i wake up, and then 30minutes before i get home. Then turn on again for about 7pm - 8pm...something along those lines.

FF, why would you want it on before bed, as...you will be asleep?

I end up in a cold sweat at night regardless of a blanket, duvet and being fully clothed so having it on is a must.

I usually turn it on 8-9pm at night, off at 7am when I leave for work and then on all the time at weekends. But I have an extremely hard time maintaining body heat so it'll be different for others.

Err wouldn't the sweat be from being too hot?

If you where too cold you'd only be sweating because of some crazy **** in your dreams:confused:
