i said "pretty much" in-audible, i didn't say this fan is the best thing since the chocolate fire-guard and is so silent that it makes a passive cooler sound like a harley davidson! so shall we just leave at that? I agree a lot of manufacturer's claim there fans don't perform as they claim (i for instance bought a thermaltake thunderblade fan, thermaltake claim these push 70cfm and are 17db just lies) but what i was getting at is people's perceptions of noise levels are different!

different they are, but ~35dba isnt quiet in anybodys book. also that fan is not quiet in any sense of the word. Yes i know this because i have one. it's also bundled with the crap venus 12 which i have.

2000 10% RPM at 20C ~
5500 10% RPM at 55C

26.50 CFM at 20C
72.92 CFM at 55C

21 dBA at 2000 RPM
48 dBA at 5500 RPM

in other words, 26.5cfm @21dba, 72,93cfm @38dba. and thats just what they claim, not how bad it actually is. I much prefer my ninja plus' 46.5cfm @23.5dba;)

i never said my Ys Tech's were quiet, i just said they aren't annoying and they don't bother me having said that when i'm gaming (as this is what i tend to do mostly, previously at a elite competition level) then i'm not really listening out for my fans! IMO it's all personal preference i know that some of you if you heard my computer would be covering your ears but personally i don't think it's loud by any stretch!

thats not true as thermaltake do a 250mm fan that pushes 70cfm at 15db
No, thats what they say it does. ;)
What it actually does is anyones guess, although it may well be able to push 50cfm silently.
When i said it was impossible i meant its impossible for standard 120mm or 80mm fans. If you make a big enough fan you can move any amount of air at a <20db noise level but its not much use if it won't fit in your case.

actually, it gets to a point where the motor needs to be powerful to drive the blades, and motor noise takes over ;) :p
