Heatsink question

Question for you all....

Just ordered a Zalman VF900 heatsink and fan assembly for my Geforce 7600GT AGP card as the original cooler is making such a racket !

What could I use to get rid of the existing thermal paste on the chip ? ? Somebody did say nail-varnish remover but didn't know if I should believe him or not. Obviously I want all the old paste off so the new paste and Zalman will get a good contact.

First time of me doing this so any help and advice on this would be great.

White spirit is what I use. And a lint-free cloth!

Lighter fluid is my tool of choice, dries instantly with no messy residue left

Just a little update.....

Swapped the old heatsink and fan for the Zalman yesterday and it works a treat. Everything went really smooth and is nice and quite. Checked the temps and idles at about 40'c and rises to 42'c after a good session of TOCA3.

Overclock that puppy. Got mine up to an almost 50% overclock when I had my AGP version. Can't remember the exact clocks but they really can fly, especially with aftermarket cooling.
