Heatsink way too big!

It does fit, you just have to remove the fan so you can slide the motherboard tray in (or fit it without removing the motherboard tray).

While it did fit in the Wave Master, it's likely any case that uses a slide-in removable motherboard will require the user to remove the Big Typhoon's fan prior to sliding the tray back in.

So the side pannel will fit on? Also theres not going to be much room for the fan.
Surly it won't work too good if it's pressed right up against the side pannel

There should be enough clearance for it to work, the review that I quoted from rated it quite highly. If not then the Freezer 64 pro should just about fit and that is a tower style heatsink like the Noctua.

Regarding the Thermaltake Big Typhoon:

1) It performs worse than the xp-120 so you would be better off getting one of thermalrights coolers, either an xp-120 off the bay, or an si-120 or si-128.

2)The stock fan on the Big Typhoon is a d12sl12 so its extremely quiet.

You'll be able to sell your noctua on the bay very easily i should think.

I just stuck with the stock cooler in the end. Don't plan on overclocking atm.
And i've managed to fit the Noctua in annother pc of mine. ;)

Its an insane cooler, just fitted mine! thing is my mobo cpu fan conector has 4 pin and the fan cable on the noctua only has 3 pin holes? what do i do

just offset it, it wont damage anything in the wrong spot, and keep trying :) (the little tab should force it to only go in the correct slots anyway though)

ummm...thats all wrong :S

1) Its way better than the XP-120, unless you meant Ultra-120
2) The stock fan is similar to the Yate D12SM-12, not L

the last bit is correct though, flog it on the bay :D

Yeah the typhoon kicks the XP-120's arse as I have used both :)

Also, scrap the wave master - they are known the have crap air flow.

wave masters are awesome for modding for watercooling :)

But it's still renowned for having crap air flow. I don't think the OP has any interest in water cooling being as he is talking about heat sinks.

1) Have you seen a review that says this or is this from personal experience? SPCR said its inferior to the xp-120.
I can't seem to find any other reviews comparing the two. I have an xp-120 with a d12sl12 on it and its very good, but i haven't got a big typhoon so i can't compare them myself.

2) SPCR says the stock fan sounds exactly the same as a nexus at any given rpm... and that its only 300rpm faster at 12v, which means it must be the L (the nexus they compared it with is a d12sl12 which has a resistor causing it to run at 1000rpm).
The M runs at a much higher rpm. Its possible though that they used to use the M and now use the L or something...

Was this with the same fan, and what fan was it?
The reviews suggests that as the airflow goes up the big typhoon draws level with the xp-120, so i would imagine that with a higher airflow fan such as a d12sm12 the big typhoon would easily beat the xp-120.

XP120 used an amber, and the stock fan of the Big Typhoon. One site which did a big heatsink round up some time ago had it infront of the XP120. Just can link to that site :)
