Hey,
while doin some cable management on my computer today i noticed that my heatsink is moveable. If i push it a little a can twist it slighty (it take abit of pressure to move)

Just wondering if this is ok?

Heres a print screen of RealTemp, i left it fullscreen so you could see what i was running. Computer had been on maybe 20-25minutes

If you hadn't done any kind of stress test, then those max temps are rather high for general use.

It also looks Intel Speed Step is on, so those idle temps are pretty high too. What is the overclock on your Q6600 and also, what cooler are you using?

My Q6600 is not overclocked and im using a Coolmaster 212 Evo

Another quick question, what is Intel speed step? And is it something i should not have turned on. I did a quick google and im still in the dark about it

It is enabled by default, dont worry :). It lowers your Core clock when you aren't using it and then puts it to full speed when you need it (In the screenshot, it says its running at 1596mhz).

As thats stock, the temps are a bit high. Is it a G0 or B3 version?
What is the cooling like in your current case (what case is it?)
Is the cooler facing the front of the case or the back?
May need to re-seart and re-apply thermal paste too.

Download CPU-Z and take a screenshot of it. Will be able to tell you which version it is :)

Would it be possible to get a picture of inside your case too and which direction are the fans (intake or out take)

Case looks ok and as above, you have a G0 version. Looks like you may need to reseat the cooler.. Also have a go at facing it toward the front of the case to get the cool air from the front :)

Ahh ok that does make a lot of sense, i didnt fit the CPU Cooler myself i payed a shop to fit it -_-. I just hope it fits the other way and doesnt take up a ram slot

Yeah i agree, today i did the cable management myself and it was my first time. It looks 100x better than what i got it back like

I just cannot belive

Yeah. To be fair I'd have been surprised if they did your cable management that well for you but you'd expect the bleeding CPU heatsink and fan to be facing the right way lol :p

Lol yeah, i watched so many videos on fitting them etc when i got my PC back i always wondered why mine was facing down

Do you know what you're doing re-seating it? Do you have the thermal paste and stuff to clean it with?

If not no worries fielding any queries - it's very simple :)

I have no thermal compound or cleaning solution so im going to have to order some, but once i have them i think i have the basic knowledge to fit it the right way

Pea sized amount of thermal compound. Im just kinda worried if setting it the right way will obstruct my first ram slot

Can always move them to the other dual channel sockets if so.

Or you could take it back to the shop and ask them to do it properly. It shouldn't be loose at all.
