Heatwave

I've had a Vapochill LS sitting here for 3 months now, think this heatwave might give me the kick up the butt needed to fit it. :D

I had problems with my server machine shutting down yesterday because it was too hot! problem is i have no way of extra cooling because of the lack of space in the case...Iv had to shut it down completely during this heatwave...Tried opening the side panel and having a 12" fan on it on high but it didnt make much difference :o

You should be able to run it at stock speeds, they're designed to work in desert like countries and should be fine here still. I think thats the whole reason we have the leeway to overclock - the variable conditions they are expected to work in.

Mine seems to be doing ok (touch wood), its a 3200+ overclocked to 2.5Ghz.

Temp idling at around 39C.

:)

Though its too warm for me :(

athlon 64 'venice' overclocked to 2.75Ghz with slightly modified thermaltake blue orb II (faster spinning fan) idle at 34*C, no overheats on any componants, not loss in stability either, temperatures outside are 22*C currently, but at around mid-day 29.5*C was temperature, have modded case with lots and lots of airflow due to three 92mm fans pulling air in from the top and two 120mm fans exausting out the back :p

anyone elses computer really overheating due to the high temperatures the last while? ******* annoying

can't play any game more than 15mins, keeps on crashing, BF2 rebooted my pc after 10mins, CSS 4 times crashed,

I need to switch to water cooling soon

My water setup has been running 10C above the ambient room temp during the warm weather. at the mo its 36C with a room temp of 26C.

Hmm it seems to me that the people that are having problems are either to far clocked or don't have sufficent cooling.

I had a Xp-M @ 2.6ghz @ 1.9V for 10 months in 2003 and it never crashed, even after hitting 62C on a hot day.

My X2 too, haven't changed a thing yet it hasn't passed 55C. It crashes, but didn't today because of the heat, but because of the Sli-DR or nForce 4 chipset.

Overheating + crashing = overclocked too much and/or rubbish cooling, can't blame it on the whether, my mac, and many other PCs survive...

Any pc that passed a s+m test wouldnt crash just because its a bit hotter recently. Have a look at voltage graphs as well if the system is unstable even at stock speeds.

A modern GPU will need its own air outlet and intake if possible. Remove some of the case's PCI blanking off the back

Remember a HSF needs dust cleaning out reguarly also, this has a big effect. My flatmates intel cpu was running 80c (still stable) because the cpu was packed solid with dust, fist fulls of the stuff. After a few years of heavy smoking in a small room thats what happens, I bet his lungs arent much better off either :o

I seem to be doing okay in the heat here (was 33c room temp today)

My Winnie 3200+ @2.35ghz/1.45v is idling at 35c and full load up to 44c on standard air cooling. Normally it's around 23c and 34c respectively.

Mine's doing ok - its not far from the air conditioning unit :D Not seen the CPU go over 40c yet.

Me on the other hand, I get in a sweat everytime I leave the room
