Heatwave

Ive got a sempron still working while overclocked, only by 12.5% but its just a stock heatsink with no paste. All the fans are thermally controlled to idle when browsing and full speed when it heats up, seems to work ok :)

motherboard temp is 42c

cpu idle (browsing web, listening to music) is 45c with an arctic freezer pro

i changed my oc to 2.5ghz because it reached 50c!!

i got 1 front 120mm fan chucking air in
1 rear 120 chucking air out
1 side 80cm chucking air in
1 grill over grpahics card

i only installed my new cooler yesturday and bearly noticed an improvment from a £6 Arctic Cooling Alpine 64. its the humidity thats doing it. unless i didnt install it right

I'd say its the humidity mate, I was also thinking maybe I did'nt install my Scythe Miné right b-cos I was getting idle temps of 55-58 but I power'd up my secoundry P4 3.06 northwood machine and even that was idleing at around 50 and that normally idles around 35-38 so it's defo gotta be the weather mate.

my HTPC setup which consists of a P4 Northwood 3ghz in a Lascala-03 is running at 38-39'c idle with a Thermalright XP-90, with a 92mm amber on it.

Love the weather, just glad its nice enough not to be sat in using the HTPC to be watching films and TV :)

I've just added 1 more fan and bumped the other fans to full speed to cope, but probably not needed. Couldn't care less about my comps temp when I'm roasting though :o

i know what you mean, i added 3 extra 120mm fans and took the side pannel off, my pc is now under control but im still roasting hot in the day

You should be able to run it at stock speeds, they're designed to work in desert like countries and should be fine here still. I think thats the whole reason we have the leeway to overclock - the variable conditions they are expected to work in.

Interesting point, food for thought thanks :)

I just installed a Scythe Ninja Plus it has dropped my temps immediately by 7°C under load and 3°C - 5°C idle :) and I am still cycling the system to achieve maximum particle to particle thermal conduction with As5 :)

With my Dfi Lan Party Ultra D and X800 Xtpe the Ninja was sitting really close to the video card.

I've had a few random restarts, though I don't think my temps got excessive. I just knocked my clock down 5Mhz and it's been ok. It's a bit cooler now though so that also helps...

its funny people call this a heat wave, a good portion of the rest of the world has air temps like this or hotter most of the time. I must say though, the temps on my PC are pretty damn hot at the moment, especially as im trying to get 3Ghz and overclock my video card.

True, but most of those suckers have air conditioned houses, most of us have windows and fans if we're lucky :p

yes but you all have to remember a heatwave is when the temperatures are in excess to what they normally are in that region eg. UK usually raining and about 15/20 and we were reaching temperatures of 30-40 over here if that is not a large increase then what is like?

odd, iv had no heat issues so far and im running 900mhz over stock. then again i am cooled by the big typhoon and my load temps even in this heat don;t go over 50c  must be cuz im running below stock volts :D case is roasting though in this room like i am. case temps were peaking at 39c

I seem to be doing okay in the heat here (was 33c room temp today)

My Winnie 3200+ @2.35ghz/1.45v is idling at 35c and full load up to 44c on standard air cooling. Normally it's around 23c and 34c respectively.

23c idle on air , LOL ! think your temp probe maybe a little out nver seen air get a chip that low!

Hm.. I'm getting 48C on my mobo and around 40 - 45C on my CPU. I think I'm getting a false reading on my mobo though, due to graphics card dumping heat onto the sensor..

Most likely you need to swap those two readings as the cpu will almost always be higher.
My case and cpu are similar temps due to silent running but somehow the case is reading higher still :/

If you look at graphs of the two, the case temp will be the less varied one
