Thinking of buying this as a present, but not sure how suitable it is.

I know it's about a serial killer but is it very gory/scary etc.?

TY.

Tense is a good word for it. It doesn't make you jump and, other than the occasional stab/gunshot wound, there isn't any real gore to speak of.

It's one of my favourite games of all time, but it's very marmite.

Agreed not scary.

It is a great game in my view only played it once as recommended and loved every minute of it.

Incredible game!

You'll only get 5-6 hours out of it, but it's an amazing experience, definitely worth getting.

Also depends on how old the person you're buying the gift for is, as there are scenes of a sexual nature.

You what? 5 or 6 hours? Mustve been a different game to the one i was playing. Easily triple that esp with multiple endings and exploring the choices in each chapter.

I always wondered what heavy rain was like, played the demo but it wasn't long enough to get a fair reflection on actual game play. Haven't played a thriller/ crime solver since Broken Sword

I think you're right.

I might be thinking of something else that was really short, hmm maybe my play through was around 9-10 hours then...

As said great game but not really scary... I would love a horror game based around the same dynamics. Get the writers of the gabriel Knight or under a killing moon/pandora directive/overseer in and it could be great if done right..

Great game, not scary.... If you have played Fahrenheit (or Indigo Prophecy) it is done by the same guys and very similar in terms of how the game feels.

OK thanks guys. :)

One thing - The Platinum (i.e. cheap) version only seems to be the Move Edition - will that work with a normal controller as well?

It does yeah :) both versions (Platinum and non-Platinum) get the Move Edition for free, the Platinum version just has the bonus of it not having to be downloaded.

Still one of my favourite PS3 games and I think it's still probably the best attempt at a proper interactive movie. I went back to it recently and enjoyed it so much it compelled me to find a copy of Fahrenheit on ebay so I could see what the studio's earlier effort was like.

Oh in answer to your question - not scary :D

Its not scary, but depending on the age of who you plan on buying it for, there are a couple of scenes that could easily be something I wouldn't want a child to see. Not so much the sexual scenes, but some are some gunshot scenes that are pretty intense.

Loved the DLC mission that came with it, I played that before the game and it blew me away; very sad that there won't be any more though :(

As others have said though, not scary, but very very good.

I won't bother saying that it isn't scary, but I will say that it's a great game, and that that you should play it. ;)
