*** Heavy Rain - Official Thread ***

Hmm I didn't notice any tearing either... maybe it's your TV or PS3 settings?

I must admit though, tearing always really bothers me when I notice it (moreso than aliasing).

they both annoy me. aliasing seems to grab my attention more though. but a bad screen tear and it puts me off completely

Way to much screen tearing for me. I'm not going to buy it for that reason. I was really enjoying it untill I got to the crime scene. Infact I will not buy any game with screen tearing as in my eyes is unexceptable for console game, especially exclusives.

Hopefully the full version will not have it. ;)

Its a pretty old demo so it may not be an issue in the retail, then again it never bothers me.
Anyway link to the PS blog with the TV advert on that will start to be shown soon, http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2010/02/23/heavy-rain-tv-ad-unveiled/
One thing i think is pretty cool/different is that while the game has a 4GB install in the game it comes with a sheet of paper and instuctions to make an orgami swan while it installs lol

Just so you guys know! There is a 226Mb patch out already…

Oooo that sucks! Can you play without the patch? I don't want to spend a day trying to download the patch when I should be playing :p

I read the patch also includes the DLC, so you can unlock it, not sure if its true though.
On another laughable note Game central the teletext game review thing gave it 4/10 but then again they are the worst review site i have ever read.

Why the heck are PS3 patches always hundreds of megabytes and on the 360 only a few?

My mate works at Rare and he said that 360 games are only allowed a single <4MB patch after they are released on disc (the exception being DLC).

Something like that anyway, can't remember exactly :p

Seriously?

Hmm... I had them down as being better than that.

Anyone know what the patch does? Seems strange for a single player only game on day 1? Maybe it fixes the tearing, although I am hoping the tearing was only in the demo as it was from ages ago. I think Darksiders recently had a patch that eliminated screen tearing so it is hopefully fixable (in some cases) via a patch.

I don't recall any tearing on the demo I played at Expo last year, which is why it seemed strange to see in the PSN demo (although they were different sections from the game).

Any of the 2 reviewers who played/completed the game comment on the screen tearing in the final product?

As I said before, didn't notice any screen tearing :)

Also no idea what the patch did! Was annoying waiting for it to download last week though :p

The one thing im looking forward to in this game is the disscusion about how you played it, hopefully in a seperate thread ;)
Im going to play it as is, ie no going back no reloading etc, when ive done it i will go back and replay things but i want to play it how things end up with my play through. I wonder how many will do things the same way? Even in the demo i kept finding new stuff to find and do in hotel room each time i played it.

Definately the same.

First time through it's going to be played as I play it... no reloads or "crap, what if"'s. I'll play it again through a fair few times no doubt

Same with me and the demo, played through it around 10 times now just to see different reactions to things :)

Anyones arrived yet?

I can't beleive some of you guys can't notice any screen tearing. It's nothing to do with the PS3 or TV. Everybody's demo is the same unless you have a special version with no screen tearing?.

Go to the crime scene section of the demo and just walk around, plenty of screen tearing for eveyone especially when the camara changes view.

I just can't stand it and it really puts me off. I played 30 seconds of Bayonetta and had to turn it off.
