6'1", wife is 5'5".

As far as perception by others goes, more important is a score difference of more than 3 similar to what Castiel mentioned will cause more people to judge you together than height.

Indeed. If I saw a man who was 5'5 with a woman who was 6'2 - I'd think 'Wow, he's really successful... or has a massive knob'.

I'm 6'3" and I'm seeing someone who is a clear foot and a bit shorter than me. Don't see the issue to be honest.

I've always been with tallish, thin girls but that's my thing! My GF is 5'7, I'm only 5'9.

I'd feel pretty self conscious and weird if a GF was taller than me, though. Don't think I could do it.

Every time the topic of height comes up, it seems most members are over 6 foot.

6'0" isn't that tall? I thought the average height is continuing to increase quite a bit?

Even since I was a young chap, 6' was definitely considered more a "height" than it is now.

Years ago anything less than 4 feet 10 inches was define as a midget/ dwarf in medical circles.

I don't think public perception would have occurred to me, however I do think height is reasonably important. Practical issues mostly, such as it's difficult to find short people in crowded places.

My lady is 6 feet tall, I love her for it though she feels a little self conscious, and hates clothes shopping.

I'm 6'4 and my gf is 5'3.

Only problem I have with it is that my gf insists on wearing heels everywhere to make up some of the difference and so walks really slowly when we're out.

Society dictates that girls should be shorter than their male counter parts, however if a 7ft tall guy is going out with a 5ft girl it just looks weird, I suppose it looks just as weird even if you swap the genders round.

I guess its personal preference, I used to fancy a girl that was taller than me, but I didn't mind because I was breast height (MOTOR-BOATING!)

My current girlfriend is only a few inches shorter than me which is perfect
