Heineken crates ... 10p!!

Dammit have we all been owned? This may have been a smart move by asda. Make people order a lot thinking they are cheap, then bam charge full whack.
Nope nothing to lose:-
ASDA T&C said:
3 Price

3.1 Prices on the Site are the prices charged in store on that day and as the store prices change we update the Site overnight. They are therefore a guide only. There may be some slight variations by the time We are due to deliver Your order. When You shop on the Site You will pay the same price that you would pay if you came to Our Store (excluding promotions) to do your shopping on the day of delivery. If you are unhappy with the price of any products once Your order is delivered please let us know and we can arrange a refund. You can either tell our driver when he makes the delivery or contact us within 7 working days after the day of delivery. In these circumstances we need you to look after the products as set out in clause 4.2 below.
Hey they can deliver 20 crates of beer and then pick them back up if the price changes. :D

There's only one word that applies here: Denied.

Anyone who has placed an order is in for a surprise when the delivery man turns up. That'll be a lesson to those who haven't to read the T&C next time. :)

Read the T&Cs and all looks fine, yes I'll agree it will probably be denied, but no surprises.

From a legal point of veiw they can just charge full price or refuse to sell them (I belive) From a customer service point of veiw Asda being supermarket giants COULD accept there mistake and sell them to the customers on the internet at 10p

Email i just about this, i ordered 24 creates :D

'I spoke to asda asking if the price on the website is the price i will get charged for. The women on the other end of the phone said straight away, if your talking about the heineken its an error and evryones going to be billed full price and it will be corrected online as from midnight.'

I have spoke to the Asda head office in Leeds this morning and they have confirmed that they will not be honouring the price of 10p for crates of Heineken.

PLEASE CANCEL YOUR ORDERS, YOU WILL BE CHARGED THE FULL PRICE OF £10.00 PER CRATE.

The price online was an inputting error and should have read £10.00. Asda are also well within their rights to charge any customer the full price due to a sneaky line in the terms of your email receipt. This reads:

"The total is an estimate based on the prices we are charging in store today. You will be charged the price in store on the day of delivery and advised of the final price at the time of delivery to you".

PLEASE DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THE OFFSHORE TEAM WHO RUN THE HOME DELIVERY HELPLINE, THEY ARE MISINFORMING PEOPLE.

If you would like to confirm this yourself, the number for the head office switchboard is 0113 243 5435.

i'm sure this isnt the first time ASDA have ballsed things up on their online store like this. How can they say the price is just a guide?

If i went into a store on the high street and the label on the wine/food etc said £1 then i should be able to buy it for £1 regardless of whether its a mistake at their end. False advertising otherwise surely? I dont go to the counter with the bottle of wine (labelled £1) and the checkout assistants says " ok that well be £6 please, thank you" because the price quoted is "just a guide".....

I'm sure Trading standards get involved if its a regular thing at local shops. (ie mistaken labelling) But its different for online stores...why ?

and how can they say "ohh and we change the prices overnight so you pay the actual price on date of delivery not date of order" (well thats how ive interepreted it)

Madness...

Any price you see, even on a shelf, is merely an 'invitation to treat'. The shop has no obligation whatsoever to sell the goods to you at that price, or at any price. Once they agree to the sale, the contract is formed and only then can you hold them to it.

Of course, if they misrepresent the details of the goods (including the price), such as showing one price on the shelf and charging another without telling you, or claiming it can do something when it can't, then you have rights under the sale of goods act.

What Asda have done in this case is completely legal. You are within your rights to refuse the goods at the full price and that's as far as it goes.
