Looks like an Italian word for some fish recipe salted cod I think but not sure in Portuguese. In Italian it's Baccala

In Portuguese is "bacalhau", and here's how we like it:

I don't eat fish at all, thankfully there are lots of other things I like, mostly eat Picanha when I visit
