hello im new,need some help

My vote is for the asus p8z68-v because it has super uefi bios features, in my opinion it looks great, it has won many awards, and asus have a really good reputation, whereas gigabyte are widely disliked (particularly on the overclockers forum)

You might think I'm biased in saying that the Kingston Hyper-X Genesis Blue is better because I chose it, but that is not the case. It is better because it runs at 1600mhz instead of 1333mhz.

Any of the cards are fine, obviously the 6950 2gb is better than the 6870, but I think that the 6870 would be just fine for your needs. Compare the two on anandtech.
Also it is better to go with a non-reference graphics card (one pre fitted with an aftermarket cooler) because they are generally cooler running, quieter and sometimes look better (although do not hesitate to buy a reference card if you see one on offer, they are still great)

The Crucial SSD is the best value for money and most reliable ssd at the moment, ocz drives are well known for early faliure. You will be amazed by how much faster an ssd will make your computer, I have my relatively 'old' vertex 2 in smart response mode (google it, its a clever idea smart response :) )
And my computer takes under 15 seconds to get from 'windows starting' to the desktop with msn, skype, and about 10 other programs including coreteemp to open.
Without an ssd, this would take a while. An ssd eliminates 'start up lag'

Also an aftermarket cooler is not necessary unless you want to overclock your cpu. If you do not wish to overclock, you could save a few pennies by going with the i5 2500 or 2400 instead of the 2500k, however having superior overclocking capability for the future if nothing else is a good idea.
It is also worth noting that an aftermarket cooler will almost certainly be quieter and drop temperatures even without an overclock, but it would be non-essential.

ill have a think about the two GPUs later.
ill take the kingstone Ram.
i think ill go i5 2500k w/cooler for a quieter and cooler Cpu (then if i wanna overclock later i can)

This cooler

thats everything then i think.
Again a MASSIVE thank you for helping me out!!

the 1090t and the 2500k are in different leagues to be fair :p

however if you (the op) want to save some pennies, you could always compare the two and weigh up the performance loss vs spare money

AMD are at the moment, a full generation behind intel.

When the fx8000 series comes out, it will rival the current sandybridge's for a few weeks, and then intel will release sandybridge-e... BAM... its a shame :(

I'd like to think the 1090t holds its own. :)

Plus, the motherboard I've chosen has a TPU switch. Flick it and your motherboard will automatically overclock the CPU to it's (almost) maximum. No messing about in the Bios (which is a UEFI Bios I might add). You will need a custom cooler though, which you can get for an additional £30 or so. I recommend the Akasa Venom.

but the i5 can overclock even more :D

i'm running 54*c on prime 95 at 4.2ghz, i could pull 5ghz right now if i spent a while in the bios, but i cba.

It's been well documented AMD isn't the smart choice for a top end gaming rig. Nothing more to be said really.

With regards to the Kingston RAM. It's not superior in anyway to any other 1600Mhz DDR3 memory. If your buying the parts week by week (which btw isn't a smart idea) then just buy whatever DDR3 memory is cheapest at the time. It changed week by week literally.

If you don't mind me saying, your also not making the best decision with the 650W OCZ PSU. There's much better for the same or even less money that would suit your needs. The modular Antec would be a wiser choice IMO. A modular PSU makes cable management a breeze.

You really don't require a £130 motherboard unless you plan to use all of it's features... look at them and decide whether or not they're required. I doubt they are. A lot of marketing goes into these boards to make you think you need all the fancy trimmings... reality is you wont use half of them!

The £100 board I specced will be more than adequate (it is also capable of Xfire) The £30 you save can pay for that fancy CPU cooler to allow you to overclock.

All the other choices, case, hdd, optical drive... that's all great!

i hear youre points :L

I got my 700w ModXstream Pro for £64, but im obviously not allowed to say where from. but pm me and i can email you it.

p.s, if that is against the rules, let me know and i wont do it.

right acme15 and Buchanan0204 do both agree that this will be better mobo for me (im mainly gunna be gaming.
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-052-AK

and id be better off with a modular PSU?
like this one

the motherboard isnt quite as good cos the uefi is much worse, but other than that, there arent really any disadvantages.. look at reviews :)

and to the psu, yeah thats fine. but like i said, i got a 700w modular ocz for £62 new from somewhere else. searching the internet first will save you money, especially since you don't qualify for free postage

:)

im not building it by myself (i really dont trust myself to do it alone)
a friend is gunna help me do it.:D

Don't let him plug it into the 1394 header either :p

Unless you like fireworks of course ;)

*edit* him or her :p

I think your just looking for 250 posts now aren't you!

When has anyone ever connected a blue usb header in a red firewire header... people don't do that lol.

I'm sorry :( haha

But it has to be said, on my motherboard both headers are black :p (I think we can see where tis is going xD)

*edit* I still have over a month to wait for free postage, so I'm not in a rush anyway hehe.

Yes that mobo is a wiser choice. You would be fine with the 550W Version of that PSU if you never plan on adding a second graphics card... if you do in the future... then stick with the 650W.

P.S. The mod xtreme modular PSU's are crap... I got one last year to experiment with and the cables were not long at all, even in a CM 430 I had to use extensions... defeats the purpose of modular. You do get a cool bad though :D

Antec all the way. Much better returns service as well.

 just because the cables are too short doesent mean that £64 is bad price, or that its crap lol

(Although *ahem* the cpu cable, motherboard cable, graphics card cables, and all of the other cables, are too short to be convenient, however I managed to route all of the cables round the back except the pci-e cables and the cpu cable, but they look quite tidy how I have them anyway :) )

Also if when you said 'bad' you meant bag, I couldent agree more :D I use it as my pencil case for college :p
