Just getting in the washing and I nearly stood on him! So I leapt for my 40d and grabbed a shot...

Jesus, some people are so pedantic. Frog? Toad? Who cares!? I think it's a great shot! The details you've captured is superb!

(For the record...it's a frog!)

It was dusk as well so the ISO was on 250. Wish it was in the sunshine and it would have been a lot better!

Definitely a frog, toads are MUCH lumpier than that and not as nice colours. As for the photo, I think you've framed him nicely and the colours & detail are great (can see your reflection in his eye!), but I find the noise in the OOF grass on the right a little distracting (not much you can do about that at dusk).

Aod, and you can tell the size of it from that photo how?! ;)

Scientifically, there is no difference between a Frog or a Toad.

However, we call some particular species of amphibians Toads!

So, all Toads are Frogs, but not all Frogs are Toads. Clear now?! :)

Besides, Toads as we know them have much drier and wartier skin.

Anyway, nice picture!!

He was big, size of a mans fist.

The shot was taken at a low shutter speed as well 1/10 I believe.

Obviously it won't help for the photo, but isn't there something where toads are more likely to walk and frogs are more likely to leap? Therefore frogs have longer hind legs whereas toad legs are noticeably stubbier and smaller?

Good shot anyway. :)
