... So I thought I'd give you all an update on what's been happening lately.

These forums change membership quite a lot, but for those who are still here and remember me, you probably know I had a TVR Cerbera when I was here last... yeah.... had :(

Last Jan it was written off when a woman drove into the back of me when I was stopped at traffic lights on the M1 (sliproad). The back end was completely smashed, from one wheel arch right round to the other. It was odd, it didn't look that bad in pics (I'll see if I can find any) but in the flesh you could see all the cracks and so on. The floor of the boot delaminated right across the back end, so it looked fine, but the whole piece was split in two.

Anyway, the cost of repairs, plus the length of time (and the insurance having to pay for my hire car, an E220CDI... yawn) determined that it was an economical write off, so we negotiated a settlement (which was pretty good if you ask me, being £70 more than I paid for the car a year ago) and I bought something else.

I was at a loose end as what to buy (what? no "spec me a motor" thread, I hear you ask ;)) so I looked at Monaro's, Maserati's and M5's, but finally settled on a Jaguar S-Type R.

I know a lot of people dislike the looks, but I have always liked them, and the supercharged V8 is nice and smooth. Yeah, it's a long way from the TIV, but after freezing my nuts off for two winters (and cooking all summer), I decided I wanted a break with a spot of luxury.

Hopefully it won't cause too many issues and I will be able to get on with some projects on the side.

Anyway, I'll take some pics one day and get them uploaded. Sorry it's nothing very exciting, but... I am 40 now, lol.

Welcome back Dude, Shame about the TVR but every cloud has a silver lining & getting your money back was a result in my opinion.
Need pics of the ****, Is it the one with the Black grill

Welcome back! Coincidental, I was looking at these this week thinking how much of a bargain they are now. Very good cars, rated highly (EVO rated it higher than the E39 M5 at one point). You can pick up a nice example for circa 10k now. Get some pics up please :)

Yes, but an M5 won't break the bank in terms of running costs - whereas the TVR will drive into it, explode, then burn down every other bank in a five mile radius :p

Oh and welcome back Volospian, had wondered what had happened to you!

Haha Volospian....i knew there was going to be something about a Jaguar in this thread! I really like the S-Type R, would certainly have that over many a motor. Got pics?
