2x 1gb geil ultra ram
abit ip35-e motherboard
corsair vx450w psu
sata drive

hi i brought 2x1gb geil from here to build my new pc im having problems getting it to run. I took it to a computer shop and there advice was to change the motherboard. They managed to get one stick ram working.

But after researching i changed the bios settings according to the geil recommended voltage 2.1v 4,4,4,12 and this let me boot the pc with 2xram plugged in. However when turning pc on the first screen says only 512mb ram, i was wondering if this means the ram is not working properly?.

I have windows sp1 cd and i can load up the setup menu but then the keyboard seems to stop working and i cant select 'enter to start setup'. Maybe i need drivers not on the windows cd?

also resetting cmos i did a few times but am i supposed to turn pc on when reset jumper is selected? or just switch on the standby?.
temps in bios are all fine.. any help would be appreciated.

Soon I hope! We have had some stuff in testing that I cannot give details on until engineering and marketing agree that it will be released. A 2 x 2gb kit that will do DDR1000+ should sell really well if we can produce it in the proper bulk. I'll let you guys know as soon as I know something. If I say anything now, the men in black suits will come.......

its ok all sorted now i hope!
for others with abit ip35 boards and 2gb of geil ram, i had to change timings in bios to 4,4,4,12 and voltage to 2.1v to get the computer running, this is the manufacter recommendations ansd its well documented over the internet. Also dont make my mistake in trying to use a usb keyboard to setup windows xp!.
