Hellraiser , get your cenobite on

We've clearly become to desensitized, or at this stage is it conditioned, not even a flicker of horror or otherwise watching that trailer. Hellriser might make for a good horror survival game, not sure its something I'm interested in, I'd need to see more gameplay to get a better feel for it.

Desensitization is what it is. I saw my first 18 rated horror at the age of 8. I'm a fan of horror, I've spent 5 decades trying to find even 1 horror film that scares me. I've watched everything from "creepy" to extremely gory, nothing has scared me, probably because my logical mind simply knows that its just sfx and makeup and acting and none of it is real. Once that thought is permanently embedded in your mind, theres no entertainment media which is scary. I'd love to find a film that scares me, but after literally 1000s of films over 5 decades...nothing.

Still like the genre though and still hold out hope that one day I'll feel fear again.

Just noticed that this is out in four days and there's actually a demo!

I'm downloading it now, the impressions I've seen thus far are positive so fingers crossed.

Clowns and dolls do it for me

I finally got around to playing the demo for this and enjoyed it enough to pick up the full game.

I'm genuinely surprised at how much they got away with given the rating it has, the amount of nudity and gore is pretty extreme. Tonally it was spot on for the franchise, gameplay was solid for a survival horror/stealth type game but combat is very viable once you start getting your hands on weapons, melee does feel a little clunky but it's not terrible. Some of the NPC dialogue is hilariously cheesy but nothing unforgivable, the cenobites on the other hand all look fantastic and the iconic Doug Bradley reprises his role as Pinhead.

The game ran really well on my 5800X3D/5070TI at 3440x1440p, capped FPS at 120, DLSS quality and everything set to epic and it was smooth as butter.

Would recommend to those who like the genre and Hellraiser, at the very least give the demo a shot.

Some of them can certainly make me feel tense or jump a little here and there but not really scared because like you say its only a movie.

The Poltergeist movies got to me a little when I was a kid and I never really watched any of the elm street movies back when I was in School.

Hellraiser looked interesting because of the pinhead and cenobite characters and this game might actually be quite cool to play.

Hellraiser film used to be reguarly on Freeview a few years ago and if I came across it, I'd watch it to the end usually. I like most Star Trek series too, including DS9. Not once did I put two and two together until a few weeks ago, until I recognised a voice in an XFiles episode but couldn't put a face to it!

If there's a demo, I might well give it a go, although I'm not sure how well a horror classic will convert into a pc game.

I am currently about 6 hours through it. Even though its Resident Evil with a Hellraiser skin its great fun. There are several areas/scenes/characters that are copy paste of RE4 Remake, RE7 and Village however some of my fav games. The game is not for the weak disposition but i am enjoying it. Currently running on my PC at 4K about 100-120fps pretty maxed. The Labyinth looks fantastic.

Same criticism as the RE games though. Why they have not yet managed to impliment a random npc generator would be a great asset to these games. Seeing and killing the same enemy over and over and over again wears thin however the level of gore, nudity, sex, sadism etc make you laugh at some points.

Well i finished this over the weekend. I thought it was great fun. If you like Resident Evil 7 and Village along with Hellraiser franchise then its a no brainer. Be aware though it has a lot of Nudity, Gore and sweary words as well as some messed up stuff. Think total play time was about 16 hours and the end was enjoyable. I hope it sells well enough for them to get more in the works.

Oh the Cenobites are their usual fantastic demonic characters they ever were. Pinhead particularly but Chatterer and Deep Throat are very well portrayed as well.
