Hi all,

I have been on cable for the last 15 years so have absolutely no idea about ADSL. I am moving in with my girlfriend who just has a rubbish talktalk standard (non LLU?) setup. We are roughly 2km from the exchange. The line stats from the main and only phone socket are as follows:

Up Stream
837 (Kbps.)

Down Stream
3283 (Kbps.)

Noise Margin
15 dB
15 dB

Attenuation
52 dB
--- dB

What does this mean? Can I make any improvements? We have all sorts of LLU providers on the exchange, would it be useful to upgrade? If so what speeds would I be looking at, both up and down? Thinking of TalkTalk Pro or Sky.

Thank you.

There's an estimator and some clues in the stickies.

The short answer is you've got a long line and it's connected at ~3Mbps. Without knowing whether that's using ADSL or ADSL2+, it's impossible to state whether you'd get more or less from another ISP.

Thanks, il check it out.

I know she is currently connected to just the standard upto 8mb TalkTalk service. Normal ADSL I assume. Certainly not LLU if that's any help?

We are on a London exchange so nearly all the LLU providers are available. Leaning towards TalkTalk Pro as it will be easier and reviews seem to be favourable.
