I want to install CM10 onto my HTC Sensation, but want to check I have the right plan. I've not rooted or modded a phone before, by my understanding is I need:

To root my phone, any guides for a sensation?
Unlock my boot loader, no idea how?
Turn S OFF, again no idea how?
Install a recovery tool, like Clockwork Mod?
Backup my phone, any suggestions?
Then after all that, find the latest CM10 Jelly Bean ROM for the sensation and follow the instructions to install.

Is that all? And any help and advice would be great!

Holy cow, 5 rather complicated looking steps, including having to jimmy a wire into the phone to get S OFF?

Most people said this was easy!

Cheers tom_e.

Although that second one doesn't mention rooting or unlocking the boot loader before flashing a custom ROM?

I can't offer any help there unfortunately it was as easy as a couple of clicks on my SIII

Honestly if the use of a single wire is a worrying task for you then I'd say you should probably leave your phone as stock. It's just like using a temporary jumper.

It doesn't worry me, it just doesn't fit with the 'its as easy as clicking a few buttons' methods that I have heard, so no idea if its actually correct.

I think it's because HTC doesn't allow S-OFF on their newer devices (inexplicable and frustrating). I'm of the opinion that custom ROMs should need no hardware intervention.

I don't know what the situation is with the Sensation is like, but when I had my One X I could still install ROMs, although kernels had to be flashed via Fastboot.
