Hi,

Just got 4x1gb Geil Black Dragon PC2-6400 800mhz 4,4,4,12 CAS4 sticks to go with my FoxxConn P9657AA-8EKRS2H & Q6600.

Entered setting in bios 800mhz 4,4,4,12 etc and Vista won't boot only way I can boot properly is to set everything to Auto etc. which is giving me rubbish timings of 5,5,5,18.

What do I need to do to get 4,4,4,4,12 ?

Any help gratefully received :)

I am running Vista 32bit and I am aware I will only see just over 3gb, but plan on upgrading to 64bit soon

Have you manually set the voltage that is stated on the RAM sticks? Most sticks won't do 4 4 4 12 at the default of 1.8v which is why most sticks have 5 5 5 15 programmed into the SPD.

I have set voltage to 1.9v and have managed to set clock to 400mhz (800) but still can't set timings to 4,4,4,12.

Should I keep upping the voltage till I can?

Just a pain because each time it doesn't work I have to crawl under my desk and reset bios via jumper, lol.

Looking at the GeIL website these are rated for 1.9V - 2.0V
I'd try them at 2.0v for 4-4-4-12.

Tried 2.0v also though 2.0v in bios is reported as 1.95 by Everest.

Also when I view the memory details in Everest it shows the details below:

Looking at the memory timings sections seems to imply that 4-4-4-12 is reached by setting clock to 266 Mhz, is this where I am going wrong as I am either setting it to 400 Mhz or Auto?

Nah they're just the SPD settings.

Can you boot two sticks at 800mhz 4-4-4-12?
