HELP! - abit ip35 & raid

K have just got my new upgrade parts. ( Q6600 + abit ip35 + geil ram )
I am unable to get xp installed on my raid set up,so am stuck looking at a nice bios screen^^
I installed my 2 x 75gig raptors on sata 1 & 2,then i went into the bios and changed the onboard chip sata controler to raid, then when booting i pressed "ctrl & I" to enter some raid set up screen , where i created the 150g raid0 ,and it said there under bootable "yes" , i tried to boot and its not showing my sata drives or raid ,,the only place that i see them is when i press "ctrl & I" when booting up
yet in the bios under standard cmos it shows sata 1-4 all as NONE :eek:

and i am unable to select any here as they are "greyed out" as such

what am i doing wrong,

Also when installing xp , do i need to press f6 to install 3rd party raid drivers?? and if so where do i get them as i never got a floppy with the board ,just a cdrom

Setting in your BIOS maybe? This is why I don't bother with RAID on the boot drive, too much hassle tbh. You might have more luck in the hard drives forum. Mod to move it?

I have been through my bios constanty for the last hr

the raid is listed ok under boot priorities, as no.1 but yet in the bios under standard cmos it shows sata 1-4 all as NONE
is this my problem, or do i just need to download a radi drivers and burn them to a floppy for the ip35

I thought with XP/Vista you didn't need a floppy drive - in fact I'm fairly sure you can read them from CD during setup. Have you tried that?

nearly sure i tried that at the start,,and it just came up "A" drive,,will retry now

Tried it and it says " please insert hardware support disk into drive A and press enter when rdy.
needless to say i still tried the MB cdrom in the cd drive and pressed enter,, and it just scanned the A drive

XP service pack 2 should let you.

K to make a raid floppy i had to boot from the MB cdrom,then create a raid floppy from there. and use it via F6 when installing xp.
will see in a 5-10 mins if the raid shows when installing xp

woot got it sorted ,, xp found the raid and installing xp now , keep tuned for next problem

now posting from my new rig Q6600 , ip35 , geil 6400 ddr2 ,

yer is stupid that you must create a floppy disk to boot for XP ,,but it appears that when installing Vista it will load it ok from the cd rom , acording the MB manual.

Because it was looking for driver files on the floppy drive. It won't look elsewhere during the F6 setup. Vista will look at alternative locations though.
