help about x1900xtx

i just bought my x1900xtx. but when i check the overclocking settings in ati tray tool, it says my core is only 500MHz and the memory is 500MHz.

Is this a proper X1900xtx i have? I thought the xtx has 650core and 775memory?

I contacted the seller and this is what he said:

"The card is 100% genuine. The thing about this card is when it runs in a normal condition, the card will keep itself cool by keeping normal speed which is 500Mhz. However, when you run some heavy condition like 3DMax which requires greater power and capacity, the GC will run with greater speed ( which I suppose with 3DMAX the speed will be 650Mhz maximum). "

That rings a bell actually - I read something about a service (“ATI Hotkey Poller” - ati2evxx.exe) that increases the clock speeds on detecting a 3d app.

Maybe you could check for it...

im not asking about overclocking. i was wondering why my core and memory were both at 500MHz only

Because there is a 3D clock and a 2D clock it switches on detecting a 3D application. As said, read the sticky

There have been countless threads like this.

Also if it is not switching, check you have "ATI Hotkey Poller" service enabled and running
