help adding a hdd to new system without losing data

hello everyone

I was hoping for some help with my external hdd, i recently lost my hdd with windows7 on it and i have a 1tb external with all my stuff on it, But when i install my external onto my new pc it isnt showing is there anyway i can add it without losing the data

any help would be appreciated dont wont to lose all my stuff
