Ok, below in my thread here: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17826394 I've just upgraded my little Shuttle XPC SK22G2 with some decent components, including:
AMD X2 4400+ (2.3Ghz Brisbane)
2x 1GB DDR2 - 800 VDATA Memory
PNY tech 8600 GTS 256MB Video
I had reservations about the card, but its single slot and decent enough to run some gaming of Call of Duty 4 and Supreme Commander.
Anyways, story goes like this: Bought the parts Saturday afternoon, fitted them, and seems to work a treat. Got Call of Duty 4 installed, played it for a couple of hours - no problems. Did some web browsing, all ok. shut down for the night.
Sunday, rinse and repeat. Spent some time downloading and web browsing, played HL2 for a couple of Hours, played some COD4 later on again for a couple of hours. No issues.
Late last night after finishing up my gaming for the evening, the Shuttle decided to Hang (or 'Lock Up', no mouse movement) and required a reset. Booted up fine, but 5 minutes later it hung again.
Reset, didnt make any changes and let it run again but again hung after 5 minutes.
So, this time I reset and ran Speedfan and Ntune Monitor to check the temps thinking the thing was cooking. Well, temps seemed ok (CPU was never over 40C, GPU was never more than 55C), but just to make sure I removed the top cover of the Shuttle to get some clean air into the area of the motherboard and GPU. Result: hung after about 5 minutes of being in Windows.
So, waited 5 minutes with it powered down, started up again, got into windows, did some light web reading and again it hung after about the same time period.
Now, Im thinking that I've just pushed the little Shuttle PSU too much. My SK22G2 comes with the bog standard 200 Watt PSU that supplies 10Amps on the 12v rail, so I'm thinking that the little fella may have put up a good fight but is now dieing a slow death on me.
Can anyone think of anything to check ?
If the consensus is the PSU isn't up for the job, what PSU would people recommend? I've checked out the 250 Watt (16Amps on 12v rail) and 300 Watt (8Amps?! on 12v rail) PSU upgrades and I can afford to replace it if need be.... but which to go for ?
What to do ?!
Help!
