Help an airport noob please!

Sounds like his work is paying for the hotel already and he is asking about 100 euros of his own money.

Would imagine your work would cover meals as well? My previous companies would give a £20-30 budget per night for food/drink

It wouldn't be possible for it to do that at that height due to the pressure differences and the door design. The only way it could happen is if the aircraft was already depressurised.
Aye, the doors are designed not to open at altitude even if the locks (which deactivate near ground level) have failed and someone is pulling on the handle. The media scare stories about 'nutters' trying to open doors during flight are just that; the aircraft is in no danger.

OP, it would be worth finding out about your company's travel policy. It might be similar to the one that my (American) company has, which roughly follows the US Department of State rules regarding meals and incidental expense allowances. For Munich, it's $143 /night, which works out at about 103 euros per night. As per the rules, 15% can be spent on breakfast, 25% on lunch, 40% on dinner and 20% on incidentals (taxis, etc), although the incidentals money can often be spent on any meals if there is no incidentals. If a meal is provided (free or is included) by a conference or hotel, we can't claim for that meal.

I find it quite bizarre, but when on a plane, I would have a bigger fear of it falling out of the sky than a fear of it flying

Ah Luthansa... make sure they shut the doors properly as they fell off when I flew with them over Christmas!

what the actual ****?

I suppose people book seats next to the doors thinking that if there's an emergency landing then they will be the first out but on the other hand if the door blows off then they are going to be first out!

i hope you didn't eat the in flight food. Lufthansa food is nothing short of rank. i would not feed it to a cat and i don't like cats!

They gave us all a pack of 1 sandwich which was a tomato, cheese and pesto on white bread. Needless to say I left it sealed.
