Basically, Ive got a very, very old/ancient desktop which I was wondering if I could update to play a select few games cheaply. Mainly Empire Total war really.

Specs of it at the moment are
CPU: Intel Pentium D CPU 2.8oGhz (2cpus)
Memory: 1022mb
GFX: Radeon x1550 series 512 mb

If you need any more info please ask and I will do my best to provide.

Yes I know its very very old but is there any way of updating it so it can play empire on med/low settings and cheaply, (Ill be buying a new gaming computer next year in all probability) so dont want to spend a lot.

So my questions are:
1) Can it be done and if so what should I buy?
2) Is it economically viable or cheaper to buy a new machine (in which case Ill wait to next year)?

Thanks in advance
FF

With the PC that old, you'd be better off getting a new PC entirely, as Total Wars series are very CPU demanding.

You might be able to keep the case, but if it's some dull-looking, poor air-flow case might as well upgrade it along with everything else.

It is possible to build a capable level i3 2100 gaming PC with Windows 7 OEM included for just around £450~£600 (depending on the graphic choice).
