Hello,

I recently reformatted my computer as I was taking it to a friends house and wanted it at full performance. After a while, the computer started freezing. It didn't before the reformat. Now, when I came to start it up today it got about halfway through booting and then it would reset. Sometimes it would get further than others. I reformatted my pc again to try and solve the problerm but on leaving my computer for 10 mins idle just now I came back to find it frozen.

Any ideas? Thanks

It could possibly be an unseated card or something similar. If you have moved it it could have loosened one of the ocmponents. Try pushing the cards down firmly into the slots. (Make sure you turn the PC off at the wall, but leave the power cable connected to earth yourself first).

Checked if anything got loose inside when 'taking it to a friends house'?

Best thing to do is open-it-up & give hard disk connectors a good wiggle in, i.e. on both HD & motherboard

Ok, here is what just happened when the pc crashed whilst i was playing source.

It has just crashed again and now is determined not to boot up. It gets to the we apologize for the inconvenience part then resets.

Please help me guys im desperate.

Nope, still need the help please. I did the RAM test and that gave no errors and i have pushed everything in again. Im still baffled why it should work fine before a reformat and then not work after the reformat

i have had this issue before with an amd 2500 barton rig. it turned out that the windows cd had a scratch and hadnt installed propperly. a diffrent windows cd sorted the problem out.

but before u try that. run windows update so its fully updated as some drivers are made for sp2

Could this have been causing the problem:

I have one 512mb 3200 Ram that i know works

1 x 256mb 3200 that i dont think works properly as when i once tried to install windows xp it didnt work until i took this ram stick out

1 x 256mb 2700

I am now trying it with just the 512. Bit of a shame cause i cant currently afford new ram if this is the problem :P

if you got that 256 off phil its deffo a hunk of junk, 4 pounds what did you expect Boi !!! lol, just try it with the 1 512 stik and see what happens.
