Hi,

Been having a problem getting my monitor to display bios via graphics card, so thought I'd try a few things, which turns out to have been was a big mistake on my part. Basically I have disabled the motherboards onboard graphics which has just completely disabled viewing the bios. Then, in an effort to force on board graphics back in to action, I thought I'd disable the graphics card in windows. Now I have no display capability at all.:(

Can anyone help me out of this mess?

Hi Gregster,

You are dealing with Numpty here, as I say. I can't easily access the battery so how do I do clear the CMOS. Is it Mobo spdcific?

Yes, just found it in the manual. Have to see if I can get to I now. Only just finished my build and things were a bit tight jn there. I'll let you know how I get on. Thanks for the help.

Battery is normally placed in a stupid place, like under the first 16x PCI-E lane....so chances are you'd have to remove your GPU to remove the battery lol.

a lot of boards have a clear CMOS button either at the sides/bottom or the back of the motherboard.
 
You will not need to remove the battery, a CMOS clear will be sufficient.

Just make sure that you observe the procedure for a CMOS clear in the motherboard manual.
 
CMOS clear on my board is just by shorting two pins with system disconnected from the mains. I've tried 3 times now and it's done nothing yet.
 
You may have to take the graphics card out as by default it may route graphics to a card if fitted.

Make sure it's unplugged for a few mins and then short the pins for a while.

You shouldn't lose the data on the array.

Had to remove the battery in the end, which was a right pain, as had to get the gfx card out. I have my display back now. Just backing up my data before re-raiding my disks and reinstalling the gfx card.

I still have the original problem though, of not being able to view bios via the gfx card. Bios is set correctly, with initial display being set to use the PCIe16 slot ,which my card was in. Neither HDMI or Displayport will work. The only way to veiw Bios, it would appear,is via HDMI from the Mobo.

Any ideas?

Hi, if your a novice sorry numpty unsure what to do read your mother broad manual or Google it, plenty of info on the net.

Print it of if need be.

We have all been there, still learning something new every day.:D
