[Help] - Best catalyst driver?

I am using HD 4870 1GB
can anyone suggest catalyst driver which is stable, also very good performance

currently I am using 12.4, which is having a weird bug, when i select amd overdrive - then accept the agreement it just disappears

tried reinstalling + driver sweeper too.

still getting the same problem

12.3 is quite stable, but to be honest its just a matter of trial and error, to see which one works with your setup best.

Tried 12.3
saw improvement in skyrim, got ~5 -6 fps more

but that amd overdrive bug is still there

why do you want to use overdrive? why not msi afterburner or trixx...far better for oc

The above are better programs for OC than OverDrive..

The 12.3 drivers are pretty solid.
AMD Overdrive has many problems, it tries to clock cards which can't be clocked and its clock testing system is very poor (it doesn't apply enough load to the card).

MSI Afterburner is the way to go I believe, depending on your card though it may not be capable of being clocked since some manufacturers (XFX mainly) remove the ability to adjust card voltages.

I also thought the 12.3's were good.

But the 12.5 will be out any day now.

By the way, OP, where did you update from??..
I always do that from my manufacturer's website.. Is the only that can provide you with the most stable version of drivers..
I'm on 12.4 now, very stable, as has been my previous versions since like forever..
With XFX or now Asus, I only download the driver from them..
And never got the latest one.. I give them at least a month to fix anything wrong (my GPU manufacturer)..

The manufacturer of your AMD graphics card won't be producing or fixing drivers.

They're providing the same drivers you can download directly from AMD.
