Hi guys,

Recently just build my new rig and I've been having some major issues. I dont know whats causing the issues hence why im posting in general hardware.

I've had everything setup and working - fresh install of windows on my SSD and worked a treat. However, prior to that I had problems installing windows and lots of blue screens, such as:

error.jpg

After a bios update windows installed fine and it booted to desktop.. good times. This morning I went to boot and got this error:
Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause.

Status: 0xc000000e

Boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible

I've tried disconnecting the SSD and booting from disk to install on another device and still got this message. Sometimes if it works and i click restart windows, it gets to the mobo screen where it says Gigabyte and then cuts out and restarts itself again serveral times over.

Also if i access the boot menu, sometimes the HDD / SSD dont show up. Now getting slightly worried. Someone has suggested a PSU issue perhaps, though to properly test that I have to wait.

Anyone have any suggestions?

If seems if i reboot enough it finally loads windows.

Spec:

Gigabyte Z97C SOC Force
Intel i7 4790K
Corsair F120 SSD
2x Sapphire 290

Different SATA ports? Different SATA cable? Try 3rd party SATA ports if you have them also - what mobo do you have?

f4 is hdd/ssd error related

what motherboard and ssd you using?

Updated the original post with info for you. Although this error doesnt occur after the bios update so i sorta ruled it out of the current issues?

there was known issues with early sandforce controlled drives on z87 idk if it carries over to z97

don't think they fixed it yet either

Might see if i can try another PSU from a mate, just to rule things out you know? Or inspire some sense of hope

worth a try,id put it down to that make/model of ssd not fully supported by z87/97 chipset

could be wrong tho

The only thing that makes me think its not the SSD is i did try one boot without the SSD plugged in and i could even get it to boot from disk without the:

Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause.

Status: 0xc000000e

Boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible

Crapping out on me again. Will remove the SSD and install os on one of the storage HDDs. Also try get hold of a spare PSU.

Is it possible one of the other two main HDDs are the problem? I've had them dissconnected now for a while and ive been booting ok, with just the SSD connected. Strangely not hit any problems yet.

Does the order that HDDs are plugged in matter, and could that be causing the error about the drive being inaccessible when they're all plugged in?

no it shouldn't matter what order they are in tbh, they all should be accessable

somethings upset it if its fine with them unplugged

try one of the hdd's plugged in at a time alongside your ssd try and narrow it down to which drive

Well i thought id cracked it, then while i was watching a youtube video, the pc locked up, i had a buzzing sound in my headphones and a blue screen (which went too quick for me to read) and then it said please select a bootable device or something.

I managed to restart and get back into windows but it then froze seconds after everything had loaded up.

Could this be mobo issues?

Managed to get my camera and get a snap before it vanished:

Got corsair dominator 8GB - not sure about the xmp profile, id have to look it up. An update this morning is that I thought i'd found the issue in that when the other two HDDs are connected that I cant boot, yet last night i switched some cables around and booted with all drives plugged in.

This morning however i went to boot and i get the inaccessible message again - so proceeded to unplug the two other HDDs and leave just the SSD. Now in boot menu with just the SDD in, I can't see any drives apart from the DVD drive.
