Help buying first mechanical keyboard!

Browns feel great for typing as well as gaming. They make more noise and are much more "satisfying" to use than a membrane keyboard.

Blues are even more satisfying, but aren't as good as browns for gaming as you can't double tap very well.

You'll love either one, but I'd recommed browns, however bear in mind it is very subjective.

Hmmm I went for the Q-pad with the blues, they're very interesting so far.. not yet sure i'm fond of the 'tactile' feel, to me so far it feels kind of pointless - though only been using the board since around 2~ today.

I should have really looked more into trying them out somewhere, or getting some switches as mentioned in this thread - I can't help but feel super curious about the reds and browns now. I live in south-east London, so i'm sure there's atleast some places around in central London that have mechanical keyboards on display to try out?

Overall this feels like a very solid board though, simple in design and compact.

I got the Qpad with blues today as well, not many keyboards available with brown keys....however I'm moving from a sidewinder to this and the feel of the keys is...well amazing.

Been gaming an hour or so aswell and I was happy with thier performance, it didn't really change my game much other than the sound of the keys which is loud at the moment but I'm sure will get used to.

Right now I'm typing as fast as I ever did so they are definitely very good for general typing! Love the tactile feel!

Aye, they have a very rewarding feel to them.. by far an immense improvement over the rubber domed G15, though I wonder if red switches would compliment faster accurate typing since it's such little effort combined with superfast key presses. One thing i'd like is if the Fn key would be a toggle rather than holding it down, quite a stretch to use the media keys while playing something intense :p

Yea I would give the same feedback to this particular keyboard too, but for it's main purpose it's an amazing keyboard.

I feel that the keys do make an impact on typing accuracy, for one these blue switches let me know I have pressed them and there is also the case the keyboard itself is generally a lot more comfortable to use.

I researched into the key switches further past this thread before making my final decision and there are sources that show the typing accuracy rates with each type of Cherry MX switch, red being the worst which was put down to having no feedback at all, the best being browns and blues.

The main difference between brown and blues from looking is that the browns are roughly the same with a slighty less tactile feel but are quieter. If there was a keyboard with Cherry Browns available I probably would have gone for them but I am very happy with this keyboard.
