I recently had an issue with my MacBook not booting, turns out the hard drive was/is corrupt. SO I have since replaced the drive and and stuck the corrupt drive in a USB caddy. When I connect the drive is recognised and i can view the files but when I try and copy files from it it fails on most of the files. Its mainly my mp3's I want to rescue, looking for help and advice on how to try and rescue the files. Any software that might help etc?

Its a Crucial M4 SSD and when I try and I connect the drive to my MBP I get the following:
error2.png

When I try and copy files I get the following:
error1.png

are you able to run anything like disk check?

I don't know much about the snow lion OS.

I would suggest trying to run a check disk or anything else to try and repair the drive.

if you have access to a windows PC you can try the following

right click on the drive and go to properties, tools and then click on check now under error checking.

seems like the data your after is on a bad block or corrupt part of the drive and if you can run any check disk or repair disk checks you might be able to get it back

I did a quick check online and found this site, not sure if it will help

When I verify the disk and Repair Disk in Disk Utility all checks out OK but still wont let me copy files :(

do you have another PC with windows on you could try at all?

found a post that said when boot camp installed and accessed the drive through that they could access the drive with no issues.

quoted from a google search

Well, I managed a way to copy the files. Strange, but it worked. I actually rebooted my MBP into bootcamp and accessed my 2nd hard-drive through that and was able to transfer the pictures to an external HD no problem. Obviously something is wrong when reading the files through Mac OSX but not in windows on the same MBP. I don't understand that... my assumption is that somehow there is an error in OS Mountain Lion that is giving me the -36 error messages, because obviously the files aren't corrupted, I transferred them from bootcamp and they open correctly. How strange.. ...

Crucial m4, what firmware is it on?

Google the 5200 hour bug. You may just need new firmware on it
