Ive had major problems all weekend trying to upgrade my pc,im really at my nerves end
on friday i received from ocuk
Western Digital Caviar SE16 320GB 3200AAKS SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM
GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit
Gigabyte GA_965P_DS3P (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - Retail
Installed them all into my case and then tried to install winxp onto the new HDD and this is where ive had the head ache, basicly windows will start its initial install but when it says it needs to reboot its does reboot but then starts the exact same part of the install again.it does it over and over unless u turn off the pc,ive tried differnt xp discs, different disc drives, ive even tried the hdd on another pc and the same thing happens
so i stuck my old SATA (not sata2) drive back in and winxp installed fine with he new mobo ram and cpu
so im thinking that either ive got some mobo bios settings wrong coz ive never used a sata2 hdd before or ive been sent a duff hdd by ocuk
is there a way to force the sata2 hdd to act as a sata1 drive ? so i could try it that way ?
the wierd thing its that the bios sees the hdd and windows sees it BUT partition magic says it cant format it or partition it
please help before i top myself
